no to me they are not Christians....
they worship idols....they are too ritualistic....
a Priest can not absolve one of their sins....he has no power to do that only Jesus does.....
don't pray to Mary ...only Jesus.....
I went to a Catholic church off and on growing up and they never even expressed the need for salvation....confessing of ones sins and asking Jesus to be Lord of ones life.....
how do they profess to be born again if they don't ask Jesus to be Lord....I have never seen an alter call for salvation....or even knew there was a need to ask Jesus in while in the catholic church.......it was like to me just because you came to service and proclaimed it when asked if you were a christian that was what made it so.....
I found nothing there but premade prayers and services that did not allow the Spirit of God to flow.....I think we should pray as the Lord leads not one already made and then say it over and over again...the Bible talks about vane repetitious prayers and to me that is what that is.......we are to communicate from our heart to gods heart......prayer is simply us talking to God...so if so how can one have a relationship with God if they are always told what to pray......I'm not meaning to disrespect any ones beliefs but you asked what we thought so I answered what I thought

Catholics are the ORIGINAL Christians. When I hear someone say that a Catholic is not a Christian, I know I'm listening to some one who is truly ignorant.
Catholicism was around for over 1000 years before the first protestant break off. And I would wager that those who put down the Catholics also think the Lutherans are pretty out there.
The truth is, those who say such things, usually belong to a "modern" non-denominational church that has no sense of traditions and history. These churches may have been around for 20-30 years at best.
From someone standing OUTSIDE the Christian religion, a "Christian" is some one who believes in the Jesus Christ as a savior of mankind. That is the basic definition of Christianity. If you want to start dividing it up based on how they worship... thats okay -we start having Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, Methodists... so on and so on.
Saying a Catholic is not a Christian is as absurd as saying a New Yorker is not an American.

I would not say that about individual catholics. However, the Catholic church has formally apologized to the Jews regarding WWII.
Condoning the elimination of anyone does not seem like a Christian (or any real religion) thing to do does it? It's like the kid caught with their hand in the cookie jar, oops, now he is sorry. If the Catholics can not make any mistakes then why apologize?
Lets see, the Catholic Church condemned Martin Luther (the original) and all of the other Protesters because of exposing the fallacies of their doctrine.
I would review all of their actions and inactions through the years to form an opinion.

Catholicisim was created by Constintine the Emporer of Rome and High Preist of the Roman Sun God. Many Christians call him the first Christian Ceaser however he was not actually Baptized until he was on his deathbed and it was done against his will. Constintine saw that Christianity was becoming popular so as a political move he made it the state religion in a bid to stabilize his power. He then conviened the Nicene Council to vote on the tennents of the New Christianity which was named the Catholic Church. By naming a Pope and causing that all kings of christian countries had to be approved by the Pope and obey the church He gained power over a much larger area of the world than he otherwise would have had. His new apostate church got way out of control after his death, hence the inquisition and crusades. This new church even decannonized many of the books of the Bible and created the limited Bible as we know it today. Evidence of the apostate condition of the Catholic church as it is today is readily apparent in the billions of dollars in art and treasure that the church has amassed for it's own glory and the fact that it is the largest haven for homosexual pedophiles in existance. Not to mention the fact that it is in direct violation of it's own scriptures by promoting Idol worship. It is unfortunate that almost all of the denominations of Christianity existing in the world today are branches of this Great and Abominable Church.

You are asking a controversial question here! Some believe that the Catholics are not Christians, because of their tendency to worship the Mother Mary, instead of Jesus. Also, the whole idea that the pope is the mediator between God and man is not of the Bible. The bible says that Jesus is the mediator between God and man. That belief stems from the idea that Peter was the first Pope. I feel that if you know in your heart that Jesus has forgiven your sins, and you are doing your best to follow God, then you are a Christian. Any intelligent person can skim through theology, and decide for themselves whether it is right. Some things just cannot be ignored... God will reveal to you what is the right thing, whether you like it or not. It is up to you to decide if you want to believe it or not.

I believe a few Catholics are Christians, but not all of them. Because a lot of them believe that you can go out and do whatever you want and then confess to the priest and you're ok and going to Heaven. That is wrong! If you do wrong you're supposed to go to Jesus Christ and ask him to forgive you, then never do that sin again. They also hold Mother Mary to high. Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus, but she still was human. Jesus is the only one we should hold up. Mary sinned and everything like we all do. I still believe there are still some very good Christians in the Catholic Belief though.

yep. Because catholics are catholics and Christians are Christians. Catholics believe that Mary is more powerful than Jesus (wrong by the way) and Christians believe that Jesus is higher than anyone. Jesus came and died for us and rose from the grave 3 days later, now no pope or Mary can ever be says to have done that. Mary was a very good woman, that is why she was chosen to have Jesus as a son. It is wrong that she is so misrepresented today.

I believe there are Christians within Catholicism, but the majority of Catholics I know, rely more on the Catholic religion for salvation than they do on Jesus. They get much more involved in non-biblical teachings than in the actual teachings. No where in the Bible does it restrict us from eating meat on Fridays during Lent, but you're average Catholic thinks they committed a huge sin if they do. No where in the Bible does it say Mary remained a virgin her whole life, in fact it says Joseph didnt have relations with her UNTIL AFTER she had Jesus. It never mentions the need to Baptise infants, yet Catholicism teaches if you dont and the baby dies, they go to Purgetory (which is also never mentioned in the Bible)
I think generally Catholics are more aware of what Popes and Priests have said than what the Bible says and this can lead them away from Faith in Christ.

Catholics are christians by definition. Christians are people who worship Christ.
I hope non-Catholics would learn how the bible is formed what is its history, how integral it is to the Catholic church. The bible is a set of compiled letters/gospels spread all over the Roman empire, bishops of the council, decided which go in to the bible, these bishops will later be united into the Catholic (universal) church. And though we know about these documents, there are some documents in the Vatican Secret Archives that are almost available only to the Catholic church.

well, different ppl will argue this different ways, but catholics do worship christ. i think that other christians might say that catholics arent christians in the same way a man would like at another man and say "you're not a real man".
but it all boils down to your point of view. many christians look at catholics as being extremists, that take the idea of christianity too far. but, many catholics might look at non-catholic christians as being half-assed christians with the idea that "if you REALLY LOVED JESUS you'd go the extra mile for him".
but, i dont think any of it matters. at the end of the day, if you're a good person, i bet thats all that counts. all major religions have their problems and flaws, but they all tend to preach similar ideas of tolerence and love. its a shame that those messages are twisted into crusades, racism and isolationist beliefs. all factions of christianity (and every other religion) have had nutcases pop up from time to time. i personally feel that any god worth believing in would judge a person by their actions, its not anyones fault if they were born into a certain religion.

This same question was posed yesterday. I gave an eloquent answer that I will not repeat. But I will tell you this, there are people who call themselves Christians that are not Christians. Why? Because the title Christian belongs to those who adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ. He laid down the rule that you had to believe in him to become a member of his eternal family. So whether you are a Catholic, a Methodist, a Presbyterian, a Jehovah Witness or whatever you claim. Unless you reach God through Jesus Christ and Him alone you are not a Christian.
I know a lot of Catholics personally that are true Christians. And if you are one of them who cares what ignorant people think or say about your faith connected to your affiliation? Not me. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
