Cut the lime in half from tip to tip lengthwise.
Cut off the ends, then turn the lime half flesh up, slice lengthwise again, but only 1/3 to 1/2 way through.
Flip and slice across width, about 1/4 inch slices.
It now has a slit for the edge of the glass.
First off, he didn't say it was for liquor, and second if you read this, it's a half. Not a whole round, because the lime is cut in half from tip to tip... god.

Remember this; Wheels are for water!
Cut in half long ways (if there is one). Then cut sections off in the opposite direction.
UPDATE: The poster above is using the method I mentioned at the beginning. The "Wheels". NOT for a liquor drink and any professional bartender would know that. When someone orders a gnt (gin and tonic), you should assume that they want a lime. They usually tell you if they don't. Just like a Cuba LIbra (rum, coke and lime). You take the lime wedge and squeeze in into the drink, then toss it in.

Cut the fruit in half from stem to stem.
With the fruit showing face up make a partial incision into the flesh of the fruit...again stem to stem in each of the two halves.
Turn the fruit back over so that it is now flat with the rind facing out.
Now make slices by slicing off sections being sure that your cuts are all perpendicular to your original cut.
You should now have slices that will attractively sit on the rim of a cocktail or drink.
