A blackberry is a different, larger berry. A black raspberry IS a raspberry with a darker color but the flavor is the same as a raspberry. They are not as common.

blackberries are a longer thinner berry, the plants are taller and the thorns are allot bigger! the blackcap raspberry has a rounder berry but the plant is not as tall or as thorny. i have even found patches of the black raspberries growing in secluded wilderness without thorns. that was some nice picking!
