If a mentally retarded person is so retarded that he can not choose between good and evil or between obedience and disobedience then he/she is the same as a child below the age of accountability and will go back to live with God when they die.
If they are only mildly retarded and can choose then they must make the same choices that everyone else makes and will have to live with the consequences of a good or bad choice.

The mentally retarded are special spirits who need to come to earth for the same reason we all do, to gain a body, but who were righteous enough in the spirit world to not be required to go through all the normal, over coming of problems, like the rest of us.

To remind the rest of us how special we are, and to teach us how to be truly happy. Have u ever met a person who is handicapped this way that wasn't happy and smiling? That is God's way of reminding to slow down a little and enjoy the gift of life that has been given to us all. My brother is mentally retarded because of epilepy. He doesn't understand that I am his sister, but he always makes me smile when we watch cartoons together. He is 42 years old and the happiest person I have ever met.

They will have their eyes opened and will understand the mystery of the bible. They will be given the opportunity to choose
to follow Jesus or take another path. They won't be Retarted , they will be the same as everyone else in the end .

I wish we knew his plans for anything.
God gives us many challenges through out
our life's and we have to make the decision on
how to deal with each situation. The Soul,
"The Breath of Life" is the same as in you and me.
The body is different. We have to take care of these
Souls just as much as we have to take care of ourselves.
That is part of our accountability when we meet "Our Maker".
