Men who are subject to premature ejaculation are told to masturbate before they have sex with a woman as a means to prevent that from spoiling the experience.
That may very well be the reason your boyfriend does it. If so, it means that he cares and respects you enough to want to be able to have sex long enough for you to enjoy it.
Don't worry about it ... as long as it's not "getting in the way" of you two sharing a great experience.

How soon before? If it's an hour or so before, then yes, he's doing it to avoid premature ejeculation, so he can last longer for you. I suggest you take it as a sign that he cares. If you prefer, offer to do it for him: you get him off with your hands or mouth or whatever, then he can give you lots of foreplay while he recovers, then when he's hard again go for it. Should be lots of fun for both of you.
It he's doing it a day or two before, and hasn't come for many days before that, then he's getting the system going again (basically his testicles were full of old sperm and neded to be emptied so he could produce some fresh ones -- it's a male instinct). If so, you need to have sex more often!

premature guys do it, so they can last longer with the girl they will be having sex with afterwards.
i had a bf that lasted less than five minutes each time unless he jerked off before, believe me, it sucks when it is over withing a few seconds, right when you are barely gettin started.
I see no harm on doing it.

All it means (usually) is that he is a premature ejaculator, so by jerking off before, he is able to increase his time screwing you because he already came ealier. He gains maybe 5 more minutes nailing you by doing so.

I can understand priming the pump,but having it go off. Maybe he's trying to prevent premature ejaculation and wants to last longer. I'm not to sure.
