That can be emotional fitness but is only part of the puzzle. Fitness has some clearly measurable parameters that include body fat and muscle levels, strength, agility and flexibility, blood chemistry profiles that are normal. Cardio strength.
If you are fit, you usually feel great but you can feel great and not be fit. Eventually a lack of fitness will catch up to you. Most people are not very fit.

Fitness is the being fit inside and out. it is actually defined by the person. If you feel good physically, emotionally, and spiritually then you are fit if you feel thusly.
To Lisa M:
Fitness is what you define it. At 400 lbs. a woman who is all height and muscle would be fit by your definition (physically). By your definition if they are not physically fit then they are not fit. But if the person was 400 lbs, and took care of her family and her job. Then she would be fit as a mother, wife and employee. Yet someone who has a body dismorphic problem (such as anorexia or bulemia) might not be able to function well in a family or in employment because they are too occupied by their body ideal. Fitness is defined in many ways by how she asks fitness could be described by what you make of it.

Vigorous exercise (including running) induces the brain to manufacture and release endorphin protein chemicals.
Endorphins are natural pain reducing body chemicals.
They also make us fel good. Runners high is one of the beneficial outcomes.
Exercise is also now knownto help lessen the symotoms of depression. and it is also good for general health and fitness.
Yes, "fitness," is feeling good inside. Agree!
