If he's 18, his dad has no right to conrtol what he does anymore. But, if you are not 18, he is trying to keep his son out of jail.

Well, you didn't give alot of details, but If your boyfriend is 18 then the truth is no one can keep him anywhere. Maybe he is using his dad for an excuse, of maybe his dad has offered him help with his future, and he just can't turn it down.

If the kid is 18 and isn't grown up enough to stand up to his father for something he really wants (to be with you) then you need to ditch him and find another. At some point, you have to grow up.
