'It's not by deeds, Mary Muggins.' You can pray until pass out, keep the Commandments, and be the nicest person in the world, but that just doesn't cut it for God. You need to accept Jesus' salvation, read and believe the Word of God, and repent.

Not only is praying to Mary and the saints, keeping the ten commandments , praying the rosary, being kind to neighbour and doing good deeds are not only the roads but the royal roads to go to heaven. Mere belief in the Gospel cannot be and is not the one and only way for salvation. There is a parable It is the pious behaviour that counts. As the Indian parable goes a man out to bathe in the Ganges did not know where the sacred river flowed but continued to take bath in large but nondescript rivers. And when disillusioned he finally made it to the Ganges he could not reach it and breathed his last in full sight of the river. It was held that he had bathed in the Ganges throughout his life and was eligible for salvation.

Jesus Christ stated that He was the Way, Truth, and Light, and only through Him could a person come to the Father. Salvation is a gift that can only be received by asking and having faith, not through works or actions, so that no one can be proud of their own accomplishments.
The simplicity of the Gospels is that Jesus died to pay the price for all sin and all we have to do is accept that. Everything else comes after that fist step.

Ya gotta keep things in perspective. Praying to Mary and the saints is analogous to asking your friends and neighbors to pray for you. Nothing wrong with that! We are SUPPOSED to pray for each other. As to keeping the Big Ten, good luck. They are designed to teach that NO ONE is perfect. And while doing good deeds are a good sign of your conversion to Christ, they don't save you. Only the work of Jesus on the Cross can do that. But you knew that already, didn't you?

Jesus said "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through me."
All those other things you listed (praying to Mary, saints, 10 commandments, rosary, etc.) is called "legalism" which is man trying to do something to earn salvation. The Bible says "For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God, not of works, so that no one may boast."

Yes, believing in the Gospel is the only way. You can't pray to Mary and the saints, because they didn't die on a Cross for your sins; they were flesh conceived by flesh. Granted they were made clean by their repentance and faith in God, but they were still human, not Deity. The Book of John says that there is "ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all who is above all, through all, and in you all!" Therefore, the Gospel of Jesus Christ as evidenced in Scripture seems to me to be the only way.

Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.." John 14:6
It seems pretty clear to me that he thinks that there is no other way.
Not exactly the touchy-feely, new age, watered down version of christianity that we get today. Christians go to heaven, everyone else goes to hell.
Fortunately, I don't believe any of this stuff.
someone said:
"Its just one persons statement. Also, you have to look at the possibility that Paul was misquoted"
Blasphemy! Misquotes in the WORD OF GOD? Paul, the man who pretty much invented modern chrisitianity (which differs significantly from the version that James, Jesus' brother and appointed succesor was teaching). Paul (or his followers) wrote a third of the bible and edited most of the rest. If you believe Paul, the ghost of Jesus appointed him to teach his message (after accidently appointing his brother? And strangely, Paul tells 3 self contradicting versions of his conversion and appointment.) How could Paul get it wrong? Did Jesus make a mistake? Did God accidently allow wrong words into the WORD OF GOD? If so, how do we tell the good words from the wrong one? Quick! Make a decision, your immortal soul is on the line!

When you read the Scriptures in their entirety, you'll see that they contain the whole Gospel. It's faith in the principles of the Gospel and living as Christ would have us live that gets us "Home", not specific rituals that we have all devised over the centuries. Read especially the New Testament. It'll become clear to you. Then talk to Heavenly Father about what is in your heart. It's nice you care about such things.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Without Jesus you will not go to heaven. Without belief in the Gospels you can't believe in Jesus. Hope this answers your question.
Jesus loves you.
