It's something about your words... Kinda appalling..

Do we really mean the things we say? Or are we pretending to be 'more polite' persons than we already are?

As for your question: I don't believe you really want to know the truth

Absolutely none.

Atheism/Agnosticism - Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Kim-Jong-Il
Catholicism - The Crusades, the Inquisition
Protestantism - The Salem Witch Trials, the Revolutionary War (many Protestant people were fighting against Catholic/Anglican England)
Islam - the conquer of Arabia, the Muslim Crusades, the Ottoman Empire
Hinduism - wars before modern India came about. They fought for their gods in battle against several indigenous peoples. And the recent violence in Nepal, that erupted as a result of the debate over whether Nepal should be a Hindu or secular state.

Just goes to show you that people make mistakes no matter what.

I'm sure that even religions that have strong pronouncements against war (such as Buddhism, and even Jainism and Bahai) have had wars in their history. As a recent seminary grad I'm pretty sure of this, but I think that a better question is "What religion is currently living into their ideals of peace and pacifism now?" In THAT case, I'd say that Eastern religions like the afore mentioned have got "one up" on those of us in the West.

There are many minor religions like Bahai and Rasta that have never caused war and that is simply because the number of person who follow them are small and insiginificant. If their numbers to increase in a country in order to support an army, then they will be used to cause war.

jvitne has this right. JWs heed the bible's warning not to get involved in the politics and wars of this world. Males in the US are required to register for the draft and they obey that because it's the law but they will not go to war for any reason. Not even a 'religious' one :)

Humanism. Though that's more of a way of life than a religion.
