It is ridiculous to assume that the "streets" of heaven are paved with rare earthly metal. Do those things hold the same value to "god" as they do to us humans? I doubt it. We can humanize the afterlife to make us feel better - and it's OK to do that - but realistically? Come on now.

The only gold was in the setting sun and these city nights are so cold. Heaven is paved with rubber ducks and chocolate chip cookies.

Whatever you want them to be paved with. Marshmallows and bunny rabbits for some I guess.
For me it would be paved with really interesting puzzles, and tasty beverages and snacks. Also with really tiny animals that do interesting stuff, as well as non-dangerous fireworks. Oh yeah, and also little boxes that make ideas appear as you think of them.

I'VE SEEN NO GOLD IN LONDON!
Re 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

I haven't been there yet, but my friends tell me it's really something else. I personally hope it's paved in Lucky Charms marshmellows.
