to have faith in the unknown?

2006-07-03 05:40:36 · 14 answers · asked by enfant.dieu 2 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

Just to clear up some answers...I am very much a beleiver. Very much. I beleive that Christ died on the cross for my sins, rose from the dead on the third day, and descended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God. But with my faith, I have doubts, as the Bible says it is natural to have. I am simply asking a question that I might wonder every once in a while.

There is a verse that begins the 11th chapter of Hebrews "now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things unseen". For myself, my faith has been built over many years of bible study, prayer, and seeing everything I have read in God's word proven true, over and over and over.

It's sort of funny, really. I believe more in the promises of God than I do in things I can see or touch. Because He has said heaven and earth shall pass away, but His word will never pass away. Therefore, the things of God...which are at this moment unseen.....are more worthy of faith than those I can see. And I love that He asks me to keep having faith. As Jesus said to Thomas "you see and believe; blessed are they that do not see, and yet believe". There is no doubt in my mind that all God has promised, He will perform.

One more verse: "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". The more I am in His word, the stronger my faith becomes. What a wonderful, beautiful life of assurance, to stand on the Rock that He is.

Faith is the opposite of difficult. It is totally trusting in what you cannot see. But sometimes there IS a mental struggle. Never a spiritual one. What HELPS is hearing the testimonies, stories, struggles that lead to triumphs and miracles from others that INCREASE faith. If I told you some of the answered prayers I've experienced, not just for myself but others, you'd have an increase in faith.

No I do not....It is not Unknown if you have a relationship with Jesus right now in your heart....I am %100 confident that the more I read the bible and pray the more the Unknown will start to reveals itself....Heaven is looking good these days

Why do you think it is unknown? Every parable in the Bible can be explained in technical terms in relation to the marriage of good and truth and the opposite marriage - the marriage of evil and falseness.

Read the book of Daniel about how some people are interpretation experts.

The faith in the unknown is Bullshit. You people dont know what you are beleiving in. Nobody that is christian ever thinks, they just do, hence why they are so okay with not knowing and not questioning. Mindless idiots...

Yea which is why I researched it and now don't consider myself one. As for the oxygen line I have read used by some one. Of course you believe there is oxygen... not only do you obviously breath it every day but there is also scientific proof of it. Show me so proof of God (and I am no talking about the sun and trees and crap like that) but some solid proof reasons I should believe (which I have asked for many times and still haven't gotten) and then I will. Thanks!

At first it was the unknown, but after having God reveal His spirit to me numerous times, it is no longer blind faith.

Just as a question back...

Do you ever have difficulty in believing in oxygen?

You can't see it.
You can't feel it.
You can't touch it.

But its there. You know its there. You have faith it is there. You believe its there. And you would probably feel strongly in debating with someone that it does exist right?

That is how Christian's feel about God.
:-)
God Bless

It is EXTREMELY difficult to have faith in someone not seen, but it is easy to see that everything and everyone is created so very intricately by our God almighty!
