Hi Alicia, first of all, I'm really glad you went to see your doctor today and although it's scary, I think going into hospital for a little while will really help you. You'll be somewhere safe where you can't hurt yourself anymore and they'll start you on medication to help you feel better. The advantage of being in hospital is that they can start you on higher doses so that they start to work faster. You'll have to speak to a psychiatrist, they'll ask you a lot of questions about your life, growing up, and your current problems. You might be assigned a special nurse to talk to about things, and they'll probably want to keep you in hospital until they think you're a bit more stable and you're not going to hurt yourself if they let you out. Try not to worry about it hun, it really is the best place for you just now and hopefully it will help you to feel a lot better than you've been feeling recently. Take care and stay safe. Thinking about you and sending you lots of hugs.

The doctor wants you to improve your health. First of all, you need to realize what is the reason behind your depression and self harming. Secondly, you can think about how to get rid of such a type of feeling of not to live any longer.
God has created you and all of us in a very beautiful way. Start appreciating life...
In the hospital, they are going to give you some treatment in order to remove your depression, the psychiatrist, is going to ask you few questions, which you should reply honestly, if you want to get better...
ALL THE BEST!!

I have just graduated nursing school and we went to a state mental hospital to do some clinicals there. I thought that it was a very fortunate place for those people to be. Mental illness care is something that is advancing. They are starting to know alot more about it. I think maybe you should go. Every one is afraid of the unknown. I think you will be just fine. If you go they can help you learn how to deal with life and maybe even conquer your illness. You still have a chance to have a normal life. Go try it. Good luck, Kareena

They will have a social worker or psychologist talk to you to try to find out what's going on in your life that makes you so unhappy, and the doctors will do a medical evaluation to see if your depression is due to a chemical imbalance that can be helped with medication.
If they find something medically wrong, they'll be able to give you the right medication, and the talk therapy will help get to the root of the problems in your life, and teach you better coping skills to deal with it.

Alicia, I know you're afraid. But please know that these people do want to help you. Go to the hospital and just be open to the possibility that they want you there so they can help you get better. It took me 5 years of drugs and self hate and suicide before I hit bottom and had to be drug into the hospital by a stranger. Go while you can make it on your own two feet.
