Bake a basic flat sheet cake, cover with Cool Whip, and make the American flag out strawberries(stripes) and blueberries(stars). This cake is really easy to make and refreshing because of the lightness of the Cool Whip and the fresh fruit. I bet if you go to the Cool Whip website they'll have the recipe; it's generally featured in the Sunday coupon section of the newspaper right before the 4th of July.

Most people don't believe me when I say this (and I don't know why), but try making a Mt. Dew cake. Seriously, they're good and they EXIST! I almost burnt down my apartment tryin' to make one, but my cuz did it so I wanted to try. I don't know the recipe, but search for it and maybe you'll find it. It's worth a shot and yummy stuff.

extremely simple, but red-white-blue -- fresh strawberries and blueberries with Cool Whip! or, for something more substantial, put all of the above as a topping on ready-made pound cake, angel food cake, etc.
