#1 make sure you do alot of streching first.
#2. Try doing it slowly at first.Hold onto a chair while slowly lowering yourself.
#3 Go as low as you can until there is pain the stop and rise back up again.
#4 try this 2 or 3 times a day.
#5 eventually you will be able to do the splits all the way to the floor without pain.

#6 Now, give me my 10 points! LOL!

The only way you're going to be able to do the splits is through discipline, and it is going to hurt a little bit. Anytime one works out, there is pain ("no pain, no gain"). There are many resources available to you through your school to help you develop a stretching routine, but it's going to take time and diligence. My son is almost 7 and because of his work in karate, he's almost able to do a complete split. Make it part of your habit in the morning to do some stretching. Keep track of your progress by measuring the distance to the floor, even if there are days when it seems you can't quite make it to where you were before. Over a period of a few weeks, you should start to see some significant results.

You have to get your body in shape for it. This means doing it everyday. Don't over extend your body to start because you are going to hurt yourself. Do X amounts of 'splits' a day. Just keep going down a little each day. Don't try doing it off and on all day. Just once a day do however many you decide to do.

If you are hurting, your body is trying to tell you your not ready.
Remember you have to be patient and you will see results.

GOOD LUCK!!

Doing the splits is very difficult if you've never tried. It takes months of exercise and careful stretching of the tendons in your legs before you can get flexible enough to do the splits without hurting yourself. Talk to an athletics teacher.

It hurts, but you gotta practice. You will not get it in the first try, not even in the 100th try. But practice ever day and slowly you will be able to do a wider split until you can get a full split.

if you make sure to stretch the back of your thighs, or hamstrings, really well, i would just start in a side split where your legs are our to the side of your body and you are sitting on your butt, then push up with your arms, one in front of the body and one in the back, and turn only your upper body to either side, where you are in a split. sit in this position until you starts to hurt a little, stop, and keeping doing it for a longer time as often as you can, and then try not using your arms to steady you. but make sure you stretch your hamstrings REALLY well.

The answer is. You have to practice everyday until you stretch the muscles to perform a split. Be patient it takes time and you can severly damage yourself if you aren't patient.

go half way down and hold it there for a couple of minutes, do this a few times a day. Each day go down a little farthur until you can comfortably do the splits.
