Firsf of all, God is fake but I'll just give you the benefit of the doubt and explore the psychology of believing in God

I heard so many Christians say "If I dont believe in God and I'm wrong, I have a lot to lose but If I believe in God and i'm wrong, I have nothing to lose"

Your entire belief is based on a selfish motive. You just dont want to take the chance of being wrong because you dont want to go to hell(which is not even real)

How would you like it if your husband said he'll believe in you only because you might kill him if he doesn't?

If God exist(which he doesn't), he probably has more respect for us Atheist for being honest with ourselves and not believing just because we're afraid something bad might happen.

If you think hell exist, you're afraid of it. Bottom line. SO, DONT LIE

Christians are afraid. I commend you for being so blunt on this point. I LOVE the analogy you use about the spouses. Genius!

But I must correct you on one critical point. God does exist, just not the way the Chrisitans you describe believe. God doesn't care whether you believe in him or not. The belief and faith is nothing more than a path you can follow to learn about God. There are other ways. For example, I found God not in the church or the bible but through simple deduction, physics, and quantum mechanics. As hard it is to believe, it's the same God. There is, in fact, only one, with different aspects that the individual can focus on. It is all up to the individual to find God in the way that suits them. An athiest's belief that god doesn't exist doesn't invalidate his existence. It only means that for that person, they don't need God to exist to live their life and find their path. For the athiest, they live their life the way God wants them to...on their own in their own way without anyone else telling them how they should or shouldn't do it. They have achieved what many Christians only wish they could, a true connection with God's will.
Believe it or not. You have that choice.

Hi I'm a Chrisitan and I just want to let you know that you have a very valid point, but you have not looked at all Christians or all the facts...

First of all remember that even though you can't see air, it is there... and even if you don't believe in it... it is still there

That is how I feel God is.

I personally thank that God loves you, know that if anything else, even if you don't believe in Him, He loves you.

The Chrisitans who are saying that they meerly believe in God because it gives them better chances are like people who gamble on small tables so they don't lose a lot of money... they might only win small, but if they don't win, they don't lose to much.

These people have a truly foolish belief. If you believe entirely in God (as i do) beyond fearing for your own soul, you are gambling it all. If I lose (which I don't believe I will, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt, since you did for me) then I've lost it all, I've spent an entire lifetime on a belief that wasn't true. But, if I win (which I 100% believe I will) I win an entirnity of love and happiness.

Being a Chrisitan is about a personal relationship with God. In my relationship with Jesus, I will have to be honest, there are plenty of times where I have been selfish and honestly I came to him in a selfish manner. It's almost like a relationship. You start dating someone because you desire to be loved, you like the feeling you have when your around them, you enjoy there presence, but as that relationship grows it (hopefully) becomes unselfish. You desire good for the other member of the relationship, you put effort forth, and you work twoards building the relationship.

Please remember that all relationships have selfish moments. And don't make decisions based on fear, make decisions based on faith.

I hope this helped somewhat. Good luck with your religious quest

God Bless

The beginning of your statement has a very tragic truth embedded in the hard statement that you do not believe in God. That being the fact, as I assume you only represent your self with facts. I did not say truth, because you apparently have a value system that allows truth to have colors depending on the need.

So fact there are those who "claim" to be believers and yet don't live any different than those who don't. Some of these claimers use the thought of believe as a "get out of jail card". I am truly sorry you have experienced such difficult times with these type of individuals.

I would like to point out that all "religions" have members who are just that, no relationship with the "believe" they claim to follow. I would also go as far to say the majority of those who attend "church" are just members out of convenience with no true depth to any believe system.

More to follow if you wish.

WMike

Your logic is flawed. Your analogy is false. Most people can see, hear, feel, touch their spouses, believe it or not. You cannot do that with God. Secondly, God never claims you must have the right motive for coming to Him. That is something you made up. Thirdly, you contradict your own logic; you claim if God does exist He is more respectful of you for being "honest." So, according to your logic, how would you like it if your husband said he doesn't believe in you and he won't just because he's afraid something bad will happen? You can't have your logical cake and eat it too my friend.

How can God be a "fool" if he is a "fake?" Obviously some people have really turned you off. Since Neanderthal Man, there is evidence of man reaching beyond self. The idea that finite man could understand that which is infinity is preposterous. The Christian view is a limited one, both in terms of history and culture. I agree with you in believing that it is an intolerable position to scare people into Heaven. Heaven is not a concept in many religions. You may wish to investigate Buddhism. Buddha taught there are no gods. Later, people tuned him into one.

Well hello the person that made the world! How do you know He does not exist. Were you there when the earth was created. Were you there when man was created. Did you assist with any of the creation!. It is your right if you do not believe in God. But do not say He is not real like you have hard-cold evidence. Just how your beliefs that there is no a God gets you through the day, others belief, my belief in God gets me through the day. I will pray for you.

First on all, you sound as if you have all of, if not ALL the answers for EVERY BODIES beliefs as well as questions.
Not believing in God, or "a god", is your personal preference, belief or perhaps stupidity.
Every religion and/or belief, real or not, have their versions of heaven and hell, Why are you singling out "Christians?"
And even if there is "no God", why are you so intent on getting people to be as miserable as you are? Isn't that a rather "selfish"
motive?
And as far as believing in God (or something), please tell that to the 6,000,000 plus Jews murdered because they would not denounce their faith/belief for a self-centered, shallow minded idiot with a poor excuse for a mustache!
And if it wasn't for "God", chances are good that you would probably be of a different nationality, culture, in a different country and possibly speaking a different language. Keeping in mind that appx. 4 centuries ago, people came to this country to escape religious persecution and believe in whatever they want.
And the fact that you question us AND yourself by saying :"If God exist..."...Well YOU go figure...
And if you have no belief in God, should it be understood that you have no respect for something/somebody that does not exist? If so, why do you show respect by capitalizing "God" every time you typed it.
And your right, if Hell does exist, YOU are also afraid of it.
Time to open your eyes, grow-up (in your case "mature"), and stop this stuff.
You have a "God given" right to your opinion, you spend money that states "In GOD we trust, I'm SURE you cuss.
Our National Anthem, Pledge of Alligence, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independance, even the Treaty of England all mention "God"...(I'm assuming that you know what at least some of these mentioned things are)
Even those idiots the "Rev." Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and al-Qaida admit there is a God...figure the mentality there...
And if your were at war in the Middle East defending your country (you know, remember, the one that was founded on the
belief in God), or if suddenly you became homeless, or if you happened to find yourself surrounded by KKK (who also have a strong belief in God) or better yet, what if you had to STAND BEFORE GOD, would you "stick to your guns?"
I could go on-and-on with you, but I will not due to several reasons...
The first reason...
- I won't even mention (that would be judging you and I really do not know how "well equipped" you are to deal with this subject...)
- Your in America (thats right, the same one that was founded on religious freedom and beleif in God), so you have a right to your opinion/belief.
- So far, your mind has been convinced and that is why you believe (or disbelieve) what you do.
and last...
- in my understanding, regardless of whether you believe in God, or a god, or not, its not nice to judge other people.
So have a nice day, and for your sake, I hope your right...

I wonder why you don't believe in God?

All humanity is now involved in a great controversy between Christ and Satan regarding the character of God, His law, and His sovereignty over the universe. This conflict originated in heaven when a created being, endowed with freedom of choice, in self-exaltation became Satan, God's adversary, and led into rebellion a portion of the angels. He introduced the spirit of rebellion into this world when he led Adam and Eve into sin. This human sin resulted in the distortion of the image of God in humanity, the disordering of the created world, and its eventual devastation at the time of the worldwide flood. Observed by the whole creation, this world became the arena of the universal conflict, out of which the God of love will ultimately be vindicated. To assist His people in this controversy, Christ sends the Holy Spirit and the loyal angels to guide, protect, and sustain them in the way of salvation. (Rev. 12:4-9; Isa. 14:12-14; Eze. 28:12-18; Gen. 3; Rom. 1:19-32; 5:12-21; 8:19-22; Gen. 6-8; 2 Peter 3:6; 1 Cor. 4:9; Heb. 1:14.)

>>>How would you like it if your husband said he'll believe in you only because you might kill him if he doesn't?>>>

Huh? How in the world does this come into it?

This is yet another example of a bad analogy. Many people just don't know how to make analogies anymore -- or at least, analogies that aren't easy to pick apart.

What makes you think that God will kill us if we don't believe in Him? You don't believe in Him, but you're still alive -- right?

Christianity teaches that if you believe in God and live a life generally pleasing to Him, you will go to Heaven.

If not, you will not go to Heaven -- but it will be your choice, not God's.

I prayed to accept Christ when I was sixteen. When I was praying, at first nothing happened, then the words, 'unless you believe like a little child, it will not be shown to you' went through my mind. I put aside my searching and had faith like a child. I suddenly felt an energy, like a fire or a wind in my chest. The next day, the sky was as blue and the grass was as green as when I was five years old. I walked up to my high school and didn't recognize the people waiting outside. When I got closer, I was shocked because I had actually sat beside them in classes. Before, they were boring and dull; now they seemed individual and important. I didn't begin attending church though, because the only church I knew of believed in things I didn't agree with. Eventually I fell away....

I had a common-law relationship and we had a daughter. A year later my wife left me. I began seeing my daughter on the weekend. Five years later, I was on the way to pick up my daughter for the weekend. Not thinking about anything in particular, just enjoying the beautiful summer weather. Suddenly, I knew they were moving, and that it would be far away. When I got to my ex's place, she said 'Come in and sit down, I have something to talk to you about.' I knew exactly what it was. Point here: I have a bad temper and I believe God prepared me for hearing what she was going to say. Scripture says that God is always faithful, that once you accept Christ, He will always be there for you, even if you ignore Him for 22 years!

Later, when my daughter was 8, I was getting very lonely. I had been on my own for eight years, just looking after my daughter. I prayed to heavenly Father in Jesus' name to find someone to fall in love with and be with for the rest of my life. I told no one about my prayer. A week later, a woman I had worked with called me. 'You're not going to believe this,' she said, 'but God inspired me to ask you out on a date!' We went out and became engaged a month later, got married six months after that. This fall, we celebrate our fifth anniversary! We both attend church regularly and have strong faith. By the way, I have a degree in psychology.
