I was told that someone I know was diagnosed with hep b. I know someone who had unprotected sex with this person...should I tell the other person?? Also, would it be wrong to send a unsigned letter??

I would encourage the person who has hep. b to tell his or her past partners of the diagnosis. If the person is not willing to take responsibility and do so, then please do inform those people who may have had unprotected sex with that person. They have a right to know and need to get tested.

I wouldn't go broadcasting it to the world..talk with the person that has the STD and tell them they need to tell the people they slept with, so they can be tested, if they would cause they embarrassed or whatever they those others do need to know but only tell those people not everybody else. You cant always believe what you hear so talking to the person first is only right. If they have a STD they may have got it from one of those people. Try to console them not talk about them with everybody.

Yeah, even though it's not really your responsibility to tell the other person, it's only right. Maybe you should give the person a couple of weeks before you tell the other person though, just in case the first person wants to come clean themselves.

Um, that person needs to know!!! OMG, why isn't that person's former partner letting them know? They are supposed to contact all of their partners and inform them of the disease so they can be tested. If the twirp who has the disease doesn't let that person know, please do the right thing and tell them. If you don't want to be implicated send them an anonymous letter urging them to be tested for Hep B that so and so tested positive.

All STD cases are reported to the Health department. The health department is supposed to get and contact all persons that have had sexual contact with the infected person so that they may seek treatment.

i don't know. If you were told directly by the person that has it then I personally would. If you heard it from someone else then it's hearsay and it's not really your buisness. You can suggest that the person get a test but you really shouldn't say why.

If you are a true friend you would mention this! Get the other person tested immediately so they don't potentially spread the disease. This is how the diseases today spread so rampantly!
