The cop should have told you. You might find out from NY DMV or the court you are aeksd to go- they should have a web site...dude, invest in a radar detector. Cops love showing their power by ticketing people. Also never buy anything from the county that gave you a ticket -not even a pack of gums. If they make money off you this way, they are not going to make money anyother way -from you.

Your best bet is to go to traffic court and plead not quilty. You don't need a lawer, you talk with the DA and can generally get a speeding ticket down to a failure to obey a traffic control device. Fine is alittle less, and it won't hit your insurance or points as bad.
But you have to sit in court.

You can call the court clerk and find out. Also, call the ADA and see about getting it reduced. If you don't have alot of tickets, they will usually be willing to reduce the charges....but you may have to pay extra...but it saves money in the long run if you can get it reduced to a non-moving violation.

In california it is around $300. for your first offense. You can take traffic school online to get it off your record, but you still need to pay the ticket.

the info should be on the back of the ticket. If not call your local traffic violation division, that info is on the ticket too.
