Someone who is from the United States as the dictionary says and most of the world says as well, well except for those illegals who claim they are Americans. Explain all the songs with the word "American" in them referring to the US and why people around the world when you say American know you mean the USA.

One who is a legal citizen of the United States of America, and gives the USA their allegience. An American will fight to keep his homeland free of those who would try to destroy what Americans through hundreds of years have fought and strived for. Americans stand up for what is right for the country as a whole. We are a strong proud people of all races, colors, origins and we are not called the "United" States of America for nothing. When we feel threatened we totally 'unite'. We are the AMERICANS of the United States of AMERICA.

The first thing that comes to mind is a citizen of the U.S. because that's what we call ourselves, but also everyone else in North and South America. Like when you think of "Asian," you could be thinking about people from China, Japan, etc. (people with "Asian features"), but India and much of Russia are in Asia also.

You may find this interesting, please read on:

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to selfishness;
From selfishness to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependency;
From dependency back into bondage."
