and stole from everyone. This is what brought about the Protestant Revoltution. People wanted to break away from a church that was evil and out to get things for itself.

You ask "How can Catholics bash Protestants?" but you don't seem to see any problem with doing a little Catholic-bashing of your own.

What, is Protestant-bashing bad but Catholic-bashing acceptable?

And yes, your flippant "Catholics stole from everyone" comment IS Catholic-bashing!

How about we refrain from bashing across the board? Then we won't write messages such as yours that reek of hypocrisy and double standards.

I'm Catholic and I don't bash Protestants. I have several Protestant friends that I get along just fine with. The Christians faiths that left the Catholic Church left over issues such as: Communion being the blood and body of Christ, recognizing the Pope as a Church leader, only allowing men to be priests, etc

There were many reasons for the splits that occurred and yes some where charging where they should not have but that is not a reflection on the whole Catholic church anymore than Jimmy Swaggart is a reflection on all Protestants. There were other reasons such as a king who thought no one should be above him and he wanted a divorce. Read you history buddy. We Catholics are not bashing anyone. We aren't the ones going door to door and we are actually trying to see what we do have in common with other Christians. We are seeking unity and acceptance.

Protestants broke away from catholics because catholics were adding pagan ideas to the church and adding things to the christian doctrine that were not consistent with scripture.

This is why Martin Luther posted his 95 propositions (or theses) against the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church on the Castle Church door at Wittenberg. Luther’s intention was to bring reform to the Roman Catholic Church and in doing so was challenging the authority of the Pope which itself is at the heart of Roman Catholicism

No, this isn't true. Look at it this way:

The Catholic Church is the cafeteria. Some people (called Protestants) want the zucchini and fried fish. Others want the jello and the butter pats, etc.

They're picking and choosing what's most comfortable for them...but they can have the whole schlemiel if they want!

(I should add that many Catholics do this themselves from within the Church.)

What may have been done from time to time by one Catholic or another, has nothing at all to do with the church itself, which is holy, and belongs to God, and will always be protected by him.

No one was ever authorized by God to go and start a new church. Men did that all by themselves, and the world is worse for it.

God expects us to work within the church for truth and justice, even if that proves to be a tough job.

No one ever fought corruption by running away from it.

This is the information age. The true facts are available. Look them up.

I haven't noticed Catholics bashing Protestants here, and I really think inter-religion name-calling should stop. I'd suggest you read an objective book about another religion before you start criticizing them. Peace.

This sounds much like a blanket condemnation of all Catholics and this statement of yours is NOT the truth. I truly pray for you that you can let go of your hatred and judgemental point of view. Let me rephrase your question to...."how can you bash Catholics". Is this not the same mentality? I know from Jesus words in John 15:18-22 "If you find that the world hates you, know it has hated me before you If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own; the reason it hates you is that you do not belong to the world But I chose you out of the world. Remember what I told you; no slave is greater than his master. They will harry you as they harried me. They will respect your words as much as they respected mine. All this they will do to you because of my name, for they know nothing of him who sent me. If I had not come to them and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; now, however, their sin cannot be excused. To hate me is to hate my Father."
I pray that peace be with you, dear child of God..

All religons bash on other religons, that's just what happens. Everyone thinks their right and the rest of the people are wrong.
