Okay first of all, she asked a serious question. No need to make smart remarks.

If your son is allergic to the cat, I would ask the person you're staying with if he/she can put the cat in a room that you and your son won't be in, or if he can remove the cat from the household for the time being. Allergies suck and for children, they suck even more. I should know, I suffer from allergies and it's horrible.

I do not know of any allergy medicines that can help that. I know there are medications for regular seasonal allergies, but as for pet allergies, I would talk to the doctor if I were you. Maybe they can give him a shot of something.

Good luck and I hope your baby has a sneeze free time!

Talk to the pediatrician. Benadryl is over the counter but will make him sleepy. Hopefully they will try to give your son a clean sleeping space and a room that they will not let the cat "into" for the duration of your stay.

Benadryl works and also you can ask that whoever you are staying with to bathe the cat to eliminate cat hair and dander. Personally I would not go if I knew one of my kids were allergic. My child's health is more important than visiting with someone, JMO.

Not really. I used to get a bath before company would come by, and then they didn't sneeze as much. They have to vaccuum the carpets well and vaccuum over upholstery to get the cat dander out.

Cat bath before company comes by works pretty well. But no cure for cat allergies.

See pediatrician before you go on trip. Over the counter meds may be too strong or not strong enough. Don't make a mistake that you may regret later.

claritin. it works alright for me, though i'm still allergic to cats, even after allergy shots for 6 years. i usually avoid staying with someone who owns a cat.

Maybe ask your if she or he could take their cat somewhere. Consult your child's doctor to see if he knows or he just might give you a perscription. It's not such a good idea to be asking people that question.

First of all you should always ask the pediatrician.
Second it depends on the age of the child.
Third, we have given OTC claritin to our kids before, but that may simply diminish the symptoms not get rid of them all together....
