every gambling site and casino of anykind has a 800 number to call if someone has a gambling problem. the hard part is if you call, he may resent you for it and he may not think he has anykind of problem. its your family and child that will get hurt in the long run. put him on a budget of what he can spend and take control of the finances. if he refuses and keeps it up as it can get to the point where the home is loaned on and credit cards are maxed and his truck is on the line. if most everything is in both names it will take two signatures, but many have been forged to get the money. you may have to come to the point to tell him it has to stop or your leaving and divorce is on the horizon if he doesn't get help or straighten up. i myself go to the casino's every month for a week. all my bills are paid and everything is paid for. i use investments that i make profit off of and set so much a day i'll spend. you need to sit him down and tell him how you feel and what will happen if it goes on.

Yes, gambling is an addiction, and is often used like a drug to mask other feelings. My husband gambles on the road when he is angry or depressed. Try to talk with your husband about what makes him want to gamble in the first place. It may simply be the high from gambling, or it may be to escape something else that's bothering him. Maybe he's scared about being a daddy, or maybe he's stressed about being able to support his family. (I know spending money when you're worried about money makes no sense, but that's what my husband does.) If you can't get any cooperation from your husband, start putting a little money aside of your own whenever you can...just in case. I wish you luck my dear.

Tell him to go onto the stock market and buy shares in all the companies that are gambling related. If he buys some shares in a casino company than he is winning everytime the gamblers are losing. Then he can go to the casino and watch the addicted gamblers spend thier whole pay cheques and be satisfied knowing that his ownership in the company is a much better decision.
Gambling isn't the only way to make money in a casino... go buy shares in the casino and be the (part) owner.

Your husband sounds like One of my best friends. He bets on horse racing alot for just as long. not every day but usually he goes to the OTB and makes small bets of about 2 bucks or 5 bucks on horses for like 5 or 6 hours and usually loses most if not all of his money (a few weeks ago he wasted 2 paychecks in a row and lost everthing.). the thing is a small bet could sometimes turn into at bigger bet if you keep losing because you feel like you have to recoup the loses. I think in your case maybe you should try to be firm and not let him use your laptop. Just be like "if you want to gamble then buy your own laptop!".

Sounds like he needs professional help.
Every casino web site has a link (somewhere) dealing with problem gambling. Either a phone number, or a link to a gambling addiction web site.

Gambling is an addiction similar to that of drugs and alcohol. I think you should first think of it in those terms as you seek counsel in your area as to places to offer help. I would consult with the family physician as a first step, or inquire among community resources for gambling addiction assistance. The next and most important step has to do with your husband. He'll have to cooperate in the quest to deal with the problem and even realize that it 'is' a problem.

This is a tough problem. I would certainly open a separate bank account and start saving up just in case. Get some advice from one of the help line numbers.

Tell him not to gamble, as it is your money, your life, and your child's future he is spending. If gambling were profitable, there would be no high-rise casinos.
