I'm not sure I understand your question. Is your objection to the notion that the Bible is ALL a collection of childish stories, on a level with Green Eggs and Ham? This idea is certainly incorrect. The Bible is a collection traditional stories, oral histories committed to writing, songs and poetry, sermons, prophecies, fables, and many other types of materials. However to deny that ANY of the Bible is based on folk tales and fables (as are the stories of Grimm) is equally incorrect.

One good bigot deserves another. Anyone who believes that the Bible is literally true in its every word is a fool. Anyone who believes that the Bible is totally false in everyword is a fool. A pox on both your houses.

not all agnostic or atheists think the bible is an actual fairytale, the word is used because of laziness, we are human also. The bible is symbolic, with some good folk wisdom and some bad teaching; aimed primarily at BC ppl and up to 1600 or 1700 AD folks.

Because it's easier to put down the basis of our faith than to admit that we may be right.

My sister and I had a really bad fight once because she wanted me to admit that the Bible was only true because I believed it was true. I told her that I didn't have the power to make something true or not true just by believing in it and that to admit that the Bible was only true because I believed it was true would be in effect saying that the entire basis of my faith "might not" be true.

I told her that I couldn't do it - she then started this whole - "that's the way I feel so let's just agree to disagree" nonsense and I told her that to agree to disagree would be to say that there's a chance she was right and that I couldn't do it.

Finally, as calmly as I could, I asked her why it mattered so much to her that I deny the validity of the Bible? Since the Bible means nothing to her why did it matter so much to her? She couldn't answer me so she just yelled at me that I was a Psycho-Christian and left.

Two years later (after having read the Bible) she's a Christian. Go figure.

Have you ever ask your self that the meaning of Bibles? You know some take it as story Book, some take it as book of law, some as Spiritual guideline, some as daily bread, some take as good library book and some take it as some useless book. But you know Bible is a highly summarized book in the world. The world (Non-believers) is really spiritually blind and their thought has been bound by worldly things. They don't want to understand and read the Bible. They only have the big question mark in their heart, they think that the Bible is not a true book. It is all lied and fault. But you know the Bible is written by the man of God. It is written by great man who has a wonderful walk with God. It is not any philosophy or any mythology. This book was written by man but inspired by God. This is not the knowledge of mankind or their idea of creating the good book. But it is really a life giving book. Let anybody say that I am mad and is foolish, but I know the truth and it shall never be taken out from my heart. I know the meaning of Bible. Some one may ask foolish question, but I will never answers a fool. I have no time to argue or debate.
But for me Bible is a Graet source of life. I have read it and knew the truth. But here some may ask that who is this foolish to teach what is true, but I know what is Bible and what is the value of Bible. Who was there when God created the Heaven? Who were there when God created earth? Who were there when God created man in His own image? Who were there when God made everythings on earth. Does any body name the one who creat this world? Does any body say how God made earth? Did any body present at that time when scientist proved that man was transfer from ape/monkeys? Who say this, are really a monkey, because they themselve don't know that who gave idea to proved. If man was form from monkey then same things should happen today and monkey should disappear in Jungle, because monkey stock would finished in jungle. This is because monkey has been change to man. I think this himan should have logic of this topic that how can it be possible that monkey change to man. If it is true then same things has to be done today also. Who change the monkey to man? Is it Scientist? or any scholar? Who?
Bible is clear and it will be clear all till end of this world. Let any body say whatever they like I don't bother. Let them think and say I am mad. But I know what is Bible. Bible is Holy Scripture. Let no one add any thing or subract any thing in the Bible while preaching or teaching.

Thanks
Cyneath

Let's take Adam and Eve for example, a story about the beginning of the world. Every civilization on Earth has there own story about how the world began. What makes this far-fetched story the truth, because somebody said so.

Its not like the bible was written by god himself. It was written by man, thats why people are skeptical.

Because it's their beliefs, I mean think about it. Have you ever met anybody that's written the Bible? So you can't prove that anything that happensd in the Bible is real. So, therefore there is no fact to prove that the Bible is true, people just believe it to be.

Because they are. Even the brothers Grimm used real place names in thier fables, doesn't make them any more real than the stories in the bible.
Please understand that simple fact.

Because if you put the tales of Bible to a simply logic test, you come up with the answer that it is a fairy tale, it's a matter of thinking by yourself or just believe what other people want you to believe to earn money and power from you.

Because it is..plain and simple..it is a monotheistic mythology..that's all it is..christians think that they are the only correct ones..I wonder how it will be for them when they find that they are a part of a larger whole..that all gods and goddesses exist..even ones few know about..such as mine..anyway..it is all part of a larger framework..plain and simple..when people learn to accept that everyone will be able to live their lives much better..

Belief in the Bible is based on faith. However, even if one does not have the faith, if they read the Bible they can discover a plan for living morally and ethically.
