It is located outside the city of Xi'an. It takes about 35 minutes or so (by bus) to get up there. From Beijing to Xi'an is a overnight train ride.

Near Xi'an. You can get there by making your way to Xi'an and the across the street from the train station (xi'an hou che zhan) there is a bus for visiting the army. It will cost 9RMB to get there. This bus also stops at some hot springs (but not so intresting). I also suggest if you go to Xian to check out the Muslim Quarter near the Great Mosque and the Street along the wall that leads to the Temple of the Stone Tablets and go see the Stone Tablets as well. Xi'an also has great food. There are several youth hostels in the city for cheap accommodation (stay inside the Old City Walls) also the Bell Tower Hotel is nice (but more expensive).
