My husband had a Mach 1000 Audio system and had a cd that broke. It does not want to accept the cd's or load any. It keeps telling us CD Error? do we have to take it in or is it something we can fix ourselves?

Assuming you've tried a laser lense cleaner to no avail, it is time to pull the unit from the car and wire it up to a 12V source on a test bench. CD drive are normally simple to uninstall. Remove the cover from the player itself, then four screws should free the CD drive. Leave the ribbon cable plugged into the motherboard, and pull the CD drive out as far as the cable will allow. Power the unit up and put a CD in. If it goes in and spins, but does not read, it is likely the laser eye, laser eye track/worm gear or laser eye drive motor. If it does not spin at all, it is likely the spindle motor or spindle motor's belt (if it has a belt). If you have a digital multimeter, you can test for power to these motors but make sure you do it when the CD is 1st inserted, before the error message comes up. A good electronics supplier is WWW.ELECTRONIXONLINE.com. Finding a dead unit for sale on Ebay is a good way to go too, just swap out the CD drives.

An error code is something that usually tells the tech repairing the unit what to look at first, its kinda like a self diagnosis if you will. Unless you have a vast experience of repairing car audio and can read technical diagrams you will need to send it out for service. You should ask for an estimate where a repairs can be costly you might be able to pick up a new unit for the same or a samll amount more.

That question is too vague. What do you mean by "had a cd that broke"? Is there a broken CD still in the player? Try disconnecting the car's battery or the radio fuse. Reset it and see if that does anything. If not, I would take it in... better safe than sorry.

the radio has an anti theft application to it. that's inquiring for the code via fact it thinks which you pulled the radio out once you disconnected the battery. look via all your paper artwork or circulate to the broking and discover that code. as quickly as you have that entered you would be nice.
