Does it really matters to you?
Anyway Are Australians Kangaroo and NZ'ers kivis or All sikhs actually belong to the big cat family because they call themselves "singh"?
Mythologies often have some truh in it. Then different writers and poets keep on adding their imagination.
Hanuman is called a Brahman or a very knowledgable person in many traditions. Vanars and reechh very well may have been small tribes calling themselve by the name of their favourite animals just like people like to be called fox or hawks. They are not actually a tailed animal walking in the woods.
Iconworship is always symbolic. It makes it easy for all people to meditate on something represnting a superior power.
Icons are made differently than Humans to make it clear that they are more than mere humans.
Adam's Bridge is certainly a reality. NASA named it as such. But it is at the same spot Ramsetu is said to be made by Rama with the help of those "Monkey clan". Hanuman was monkey or not , the bridge, is very much present.
This bridge is man made and NASA said it was older than 17,000 years. So one thing is sure world was not created only 6000 years before.
And in that case I wonder how Jesus was God When he did not even know how long man was on earth? He certainly did not corrected anything in Bible on this point.
But to each his own.

Yes,he exist.Look at it this way.For the last few centuries,if you present this epic to anyone excluding the indians, they will most likely to laugh it off as pure 'fairy tale' and having the christians-more accurately the church and the orthodox idiots controlling half of the world doesnt really help either(no offense to the real followers of christ). But read it now and you will realise it does have historical evidence and scientific logic behind it.Adam's bridge should be rightfully called Rama's bridge, dont know what Adam got to do with this ;) and Hanuman 'monkey clans' may very well be a humanoid ape(etc;bigfoot)but more advanced and probably spiritual as well.
Geologist should really start taking some indians myths seriously such as Krishna's Dwaraka Very little efforts have been done there :( Anyways, peace!
PS:hindu scriptures does have symbolic, philosopical meaning in it but does refer to history as well.

God is just a word denoting an object of worship. Put another way; everything that man worships is a god. So we can say that this Hindu object of worship is a real god. Is this god real in terms of an interactive existence with other beings? On that basis, the monkey god could be classified with the millions of mythical gods which humanity worships to this day.
One big problem for mankind is the improper classification of the word "god" as a noun. The word "god" is really nothing more than an adjective.
Look at the Ten Commandments. One says "Thou shalt have no others gods before me." Now what we have here is a god, who says He is the only god that exists; telling His people not to worship other gods!!!?
Now the One and Only God MUST know that there are no other gods out there!!! The only conclusion I can reach: Even the Supreme Being sees god as a generic term. A term that only applies to things which people make up in their own heads.
Bottom line. The monkey god is a real god and a real myth.

It's a symbol within the Ramayana.
Rama symbolizes humanity. Sita symbolizes our true nature. Hanuman symbolizes devotion. Ravana symbolizes our egos. In the story Ravana kidnaps Sita. Rama gets the aid of Hanuman who jumps to Lanka and rescues Sita thus rejoining the two and then Rama is able to kill Ravana. Thus the story is saying that it is the ego that seperates humanity from its true nature, but the ego can be destroyed and humanity reunited with its true nature through devotion to God (Rama is also an incarnate of God in the story).
And that's the symbolism

No.
Hindus see the embodiment of God in all forms of life. Be it a monkey, a rat or a cow. You should not kill another life because that life is God as Himself.
Therefore, taking monkey God in its literal sense as God is immature. But understanding the principle is a sign of maturity.
This applies to all many dieties in Hinduism. Note it is "...ism", which means it is a way of life. Same can be said of Judaism. These religions have evolved over time and it is not preached by one to anyother to follow the preacher's thoughts as the only way.

They were probably saints or prophets but as time passed through word of mouth and unintellectual followers, their status were exaggerated and false images appeared until finally they became symbols of God, or idols. Some separate attributes of God for example He is the Most Forgiving and He is the Most Just became separate through imagination and instead of One God of many attributes, it eventually became many false gods; similar to what Christianity has done to prophet Jesus as His son/Himself or angels as His daughters (Zeus son of Apollo).
