Major MYTH is to stop eating or eat too little. You need balance. Eat 3 meals with 2 snacks, plus Cardio. Make your food choices wisely no junk or too much fat. No more than 30 grams a day. When you eat too little your body falls into low metabolism. Food will up it & some type of moving exercise will up it more. Or use a DVD-VHS Exercise program, they can be picked up cheaply.
I had this same problem & it took alot for my personal trainer to convince me to eat. I paid big bucks for this info so don't waste what I'm sharing.

When you stop eating your body goes into emergency mode and stores every little thing you eat because it doesn't want to starve. You have to eat some to lose weight. Try weight watchers. It is a program that you don't feel deprived with and you steadily lose weight (several pounds the first week and a few each week thereafter). You don't have to spend $ and join-just do a few google searches and find information. OR you can spend the initial $30 or so and get all of the information but not go back each week and save your money. I have lost 30 lbs on the plan and my best friend lost 80! I have tried every "fad" diet out there and none of them work, even starvation. You have to be patient too! Lasting weight loss takes time. You've gotta find time for exercise. If you don't have $ for a gym membership or gym equipment at home then buy an exercise tape/dvd. You can do it while it is raining. (and make fun of the cheesy outfits and music too!)

Exercise in your own home- get some tae bo DVD's or windsor pilates- works great and you don't need that much room. I lost 40 lbs with these videos and eating healthy. You must eat every 3 hours and 5 times per day/5 small meals. It will regulate your metabolism for maximum fat burning and drink alot of water.

It may not be how much you are eating but what you are eating. You can use substitutions. For example, if you have a sweets craving, instead of reaching for the sugary stuff, you could eat fresh fruits instead. Watch what you snack on. Another way to lose weight is to eat breakfast. It gives you energy for the whole day. Good luck.

Stepping in place at home is good, and sit ups, push ups and just rocking back and forth on your belly can burn calories. The only real answer is less food and more movement. It's hard but I am 68 and have lost eighty pounds in the last 14 months.

don't stop eating completely! it's best to just choose the right foods, and eat more often in small portions.. Excersise is great too. you say you don't have enough time?? There is always time for a little excersise! Walking, crunching, lifting dumbells (very inexpensive)... you can do it!!! DON'T STARVE, the weight will come back on faster!!

the body notices that you haven't eaten for a period of time and goes into conservation mode and starts by shutting down certain processes that use energy to work.
the body does this because it does not know when the next meal is coming, so it wants to survive on the adipose tissue that it has.
the way to get around this is to spend more energy than you take in...eats proteins, veggies and limit carbohydrates or burn more energy (exercise) that you take in....good luck

If you stop eating, your body thinks a famine has occurred and it goes into starvation mode, it burns less calories.
To lose weight, you MUST exercise. There's no other way.
