I've been in this situation before. I handled this by telling my best friend at the time that I still had feelings for my ex. She understood because we had just broken up and so she met someone else she liked.

I agree with letting her have him. I have lost out on too many friends in the past, because of women. If she is your "best" friend, then you want nothing else for her, except happiness. Maybe your ex will become a better man with this experience and you will keep your best friend & maybe gain another.

I know most people believe that you should stay away from friends' exes, but you know what? If he isnt yours anymore than its really unfair for you to restrict anyone from dating him; and for all you know they could be the perfect match, and you would be the onl thng holding them back from being happy.

If you truly are still interested in him--and not only because she is--
then I think you should tell him how you feel, and then the ball is in his court as to who he wants to date' its his choice more than anyone elses, after all.

I know that this may not be what you wanted to hear, but it is an honest and fair answer.

Give him up and let her have him. I wouldn't try to make my friend miserable if they like each other just because I used to go out with him.
