Just take an empty dish with a few crumbs in the bottom. At the beginning of the party your hosts will be too busy to notice that you didn't bring anything. Later slip the empty dish with crumbs on to the table and say something like"wow my brownies/fajitas/cupcakes etc went down well" Never fails for me

PinWheels....they are great.

You get flour tortillas, diced green chili peppers and cream cheese. You mix the chili peppers and cream cheese together. You then take the flour tortilla and spread some of the cream chese and chile pepper mix on it....then roll it up and cut it into about 1/2 inch pieces. Then you get a dish that can hold salsa and a few other items as well. I always get picante sauce to dip the pinwheels in along with some tortilla chips. YUMMY!!!

There are always way too many salads at BBQ's,
I'd go for a Salsa and chips.
Just put in large tupperware in a ice filled cooler!
Here's my favorite recipe!
4 Large ripe tomato's
2 bunches of green onions
1 can sliced black olives
1 can green chilies Diced
1/2 tsp lemon juice or lime
salt, Pepper, and a dash of garlic.
Mix! Let sit in fridge for at least a couple of hours if possible.
The flavor will be stronger the longer you let it sit!
Double or triple recipe according to people being fed!
I use Lime tortilla chips.

Try bringing sweetish meatballs. They're easy to make and delicious. Or try Jello Shots. They're for adults only. Just mix up some jello and pour in a little liquor. You'll be the hit of the party. Good Luck!!!

Any fruit mixture that will keep cool and fresh in a bowl resting on a bed of ice. It's too late to create a fruit compote that you marinade in rum or something to ferment it, so just cut up bite-sized chunks of watermelon, cantalope, add white and purple grapes, cherries, add some frozen strawberries and frozen raspberries and frozen mango chunks (your grocery's freezer section) to keep the mix cold....Happy Fourth. It'll be a hot day, something cool will go over well.

You could bring something to drink. Lemonade, iced tea, juice, and bottled water are all great options. Or if there will be mostly adults bring some beer, wine, or the ingredients for your favorite mixed drink.

Paris Hilton.

Oh, wait, you did not mean that kind of dish.

Salad, potato salad (keep it simple, no body really likes the mystery vegetables), macaroni salad (see comment for potato salad).

Oh, and if you are a guy, Large bag of chips and a six pack of beer. Let someone else drink at least one of the beers.
