well first you have to find out what part of the test it failed on and then go from there- There are many different things you can fix to solve the problem but without knowng where it is failing then its up in the air- and i beleive you can get a 30 day conditional pass until u get enough money to fix it

Depends on what state you are registering the car in. Some states allow a "pass" if you show that a qualified auto shop did a certain number dollars worth of work to get the car within regs. Other states, it does not matter how much you spend, the vehicle has to be within the required guidelines. As for getting your license, if you are speaking in terms of taking the driving exam, then you must show up with a legal licensed and insured vehicle that meets all the safety requirements to be roadworthy to take the drivers exam. That is standard in all states. You can always borrow a car from a friend to take the test. If you are speaking in terms of getting your tabs for your plates, then you may need to get a "temporary" permit for the car to take it to a shop to get it fixed so it will pass the e-test.

Try putting a new gas cap on it, this seems to help any emmissions from coming out of the car.Put in new spark plugs or simply go to a dealership pay them 150.00 for a can of "pass test", thats put into the gas tank .

When your car fails the test, they should have told you what you need to do to pass the test.

You can still get a license, you just won't be able to renew the registration for that car until it passes.

Even if they can't fix it, if you can show you had the work done (they put a spending minimum on repairs, I think it's like 300 bucks) you get a default pass.
