I have a sister who constantly says this to me whenever we are discussing the failing health of my 84-yr-old mom. I feel she is actually saying to me, "I want you to die". What do YOU think? If you haven't guessed, we are from an extremely dysfunctional family with all pertaining characteristics.

It means you should avoid her after your 83rd birthday.

I think it depends on how she says it, and what else she says. Her tone and the content of the rest of the conversation would go a long way in determining her meaning.
My best advice is to just ask her what she means. She might be concerned for how you are living, and trying to tell you that there are certain things you should change now to hopefully prolong your life and keep you from future health problems. Maybe she's stressed from dealing with your mother's health issues. Or, maybe she truly is just being mean.
But, whatever the reason, you won't know unless you ask her.

i think that she's trying to encorage you. My parents tell me I'm not going to survive untill i'm 25 and my 5th grade teacher told me i wasn't going to survive to see 8th grade.
You have it easy, she has a pretty good amount of faith in you.

And the "I want you to die", part, that is just sibbling rivalry, you don't have to worry about that untill you realize she's studying up on assasination.

And from what i can tell, yes you have a dysfunctional family but so does 2/3 familys

She's insinuating that you live a reckless lifestyle and won't live to be that old. It's actually a common saying. "That Johnny, he'll never live to see 30" after 25 year old Johnny was in a motorcycle accident without a helmet.

She probably doesn't let herself trust or believe. Or hope.
