Same way you do with any other relationship but it requires a bit more work. How often do you talk on the phone? What are your conversations mainly about - topics with substance and sweet romantic talk or is it just the guy always wanting to talk dirty? How do you feel when you talk to him / her? Do you feel like they light up your life and making you feel wonderful and good about yourself when you two talk? Also, have you've seen the person live on cam at least once so you know that they really look like what they do in the pictures / what they claim to look like? Looks aren't everything but it does play a role in things. Can you sense if the other person feels the same over the phone. It could be just me but when I talk to someone I deeply love, my voice changes, its softer and sweeter than how I normally talk and it just happens. I don't really control it.
Ask yourself these questions and you might find the answer you seek. A relationship is all about having fun, giving and receiving love and being happy, even if the relationship is long distance, if you two manage to find things to do together online and over the phone to keep each other happy, entertained and feeling loved then he / she might be the one.
I met my girlfriend online and I've known her for over a year before we asked each other out. It was cute, I still remember it. Telling her, "Oh, we can do that when we become boyfriend and girlfriend." and she replied with "We're not already?" We had everything in common and my feelings developed so strongly for her that I finally decided why not and said "Well, if you want us to be then I got no problems with that. I'd love to." and then we were official. We still haven't met yet but I do everything in my power to keep her happy and find things for us to do together like watch TV, movies and gameshows over the phone together, etc. until the day I can finally see her.
Just follow your heart.

Don't stress this issue of love as of yet. Meet first and experience each other first hand. You seem to have developed a great bond so far but phone and Internet relationships can sometimes be deceiving. Personal contact is the only true guage for love.

Then you are not in love, you are in like. You may love some things you know about that person, but ya can't truly love, with your heart, in a romantic way, someone you've never spent time with...there's WAY too much about them that you cannot know until you spend a considerable amount of time together (no matter what's been said in email or phone).
You love the idea of who they are...the person you've made them to be in your mind...the problem with that is that it's extremely rare for them to live up to your expectations.

Honey.....love is an ACTION verb. Talking is a small part of loving someone. But it's only one side of it. Do you get along well in person? Is he kind to you around other people? Do you feel an energy from him when he is close to you physically? ......It's easy to fall in love with a voice because what you LOVE is the COMFORT and FAMILIARITY of having someone to talk to. TALKING TO and BEING WITH someone in the physical is NOT the same thing.

There is no way you can know if you really are in love with someone who you've only taked with over the phone. You have to spend time with a person in person to know that you are in love with them.

how would you feel if the conversations ended? would there be a big void where your heart is? if so, it sounds like love.
Meet the big guy and hope for the best.
