why is the bible so full of hatred to women? Are all women going to hell?

The Bible’s treatment of women was abominable. Women not only had a submissive and inferior status to men, but they were considered chattel. (Genesis 3:16, Exodus 21:7-11, Numbers 30.) God set the monetary value of women at 50 to 66 percent of that of men. (Leviticus 27:3-7.) Women were to learn quietly and submissively from men, and were never to teach men or have authority over them. (1 Timothy 2:11,12.)

Double standards abounded. A wife found guilty of adultery was to be killed along with her lover. (Deuteronomy 22:22.) But, hypocritically, no law prevented a married man from carrying on with as many affairs as he pleased, as long as they were not with other men's wives. Likewise, prostitution was illegal for Jewish women. (Deuteronomy 23:17.) But there was no law forbidding foreign women to be prostitutes in Israel, or for Jewish men to frequent them — which was a common practice.

There is this feeling of complete imbalance between man and woman. Men have the majority of control and power. These inherited beliefs are subjugating woman to inferiority and empowering men. These beliefs were formed and instilled by men with the desire to control the mind. People have grown numb to the fact that each individual on earth has been granted an impossible gift to be a part of this world. This imbalance in man and woman is rooted in beliefs which has swayed peoples minds over time and this has evolved into what people think today.

There are few exceptions to these...Male Presidents, Female Maids, Male popes, Female nuns, Male war heroes, Female whores... Mother Earth is an exception, but no respect for her by men of power.

There's a direct line of this imbalance. The imbalance lifeline feed and nurtured through history by men who had the desire to control people's minds and lives.

The bible was written within the social context of its time, just like any other book. The examples you have given cheese, are also from the old testament, old covenant (with the exception of 1 Tim). When Jesus came and brought the new covenant much of the old law was replaced; this does not mean that the law holds no validity in society, it has simply been replaced or updated.

50 years ago women were considered to be beneath men in society, homosexuals were heavily persecuted, and it was OK to physically discipline a child. The bible validates these opinions, it is the mind set of society that has changed.

I am not validating the ill-treatment of women and children here, so please do not hear what I am not saying. But since when is submission to your husband out of love and respect through Christ and a common faith a bad thing? And you forget that men are also to respect and value their wives! Are you speaking from a true knowledge of God the Father, or simply an outlook tainted by this modern day culture that says all things are permissible?

A woman was the first to see and speak with Jesus after his resurrection. John 20:11-18

In Christ, women are equal to men. Galatians 3:28

Women will prophesy. Acts 2:17,18

Some women were legitimate prophetesses. Judges 4:4-9 2Kings22:14, Luke2:36,37

God told Abraham to listen to his wife. Genesis 21:12

Jesus spoke with the woman at the well, although Jewish tradition did not allow this. She was not a Jew, she was a public sinner, living with a man. Clearly men, even inside the true Jewish religion, had distorted the Scriptures.

The religious teachers had different opinions, some believed in the resurrection and some did not.

Matthew 15: 8 This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far removed from me. 9) It is in vain that they are worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.

Today, as in the past, some men act likewise.

The Bible does not hate women. I know in reading things like that would lead you to think that. However there are verses where men if found with other women, outside the bounds of marriage were killed. Also another interesting fact, in the Old Testament you will see that a man can get the death penalty for murder and for rape. They were upholding the rights of women there.

You need to go through and get a book on women in the Bible and how God used them for many things. Debra was given a high postion as a judge. Look at people like Esther, Ruth and Mary. Read Proverbs 31 and the Song of Solomon and how it shows how beautiful a woman is and should be treated by her husband.

As a Christian woman I have done a good amount of research into this area as it would definately peak my interest. A lot of things even in the New Testament in regards to women are taken out of context. But I can see your points, however God is fair and just!

Some of those things, I can't really respond to, some though I can. Adultery was illegal for all, men and women, the 10 commandments were law, and right near the bottom, "Thou shalt no commit adultery" no gender mentioned. Prostitution was illegal for Jewish women because it was not the same thing as prostitution now. What it was talking about were temple prostitutes, fertility religions used temple prostitutes, sleeping with them was meant to insure good crops. Men were also forbidden from going to them, but not by saying don't go to prostitutes, but by saying, don't practice other religions. The few times Jewish men in the Bible did go to prostitutes, there were some pretty dire consequences for them.

As far as wives being submissive, look at what we have for an example of being the head. Jesus is head over the church, and what did he do? Sacrificed himself.

And how did he treat women? When a teacher went to a home, the men would sit at his feet and listen while the women prepared a meal. When he went to the home of Mary and Martha, he invited them to sit at his feet, a place of honor reserved for men.

Women are mentioned in genealogies, unheard of outside of the Bible, there is even one genealogy of a woman in the Bible.

There is an extremely successful business woman in the Bible:
14 One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message.
Purple is the royal color, at the time wearing it was punishable with a prison sentence if you were not part of the royal family. She was also one of the founders of the old church.

There was also Deborah. She was a judge in the time of the judges, they were the rulers of Israel. She also led an army into battle.

Many things in the Bible probably shocked the patriarchal society of the time. Women leading the country, leading men into battle, being succesful at business, sitting at the feet of teachers.

In Lev 27, God made it easier to redeem a woman, actually showing more value for her.

Men committing adultery were to be executed also.
Fornication was illegal for men.

Genesis 3 is a curse for a specific sin. Both men and women were cursed.

In Exodus we find that a person in debt could sell himself or his family as servants (to be treated the same as hired hands) for a period not to exceed 6 years unless he later agreed to make it permanent. But if your daughter marries the slave holder or his son, you could not expect to get her back.

1 Timothy was talking about leadership roles which were reserved to men. OK, you may not like this one.

First we need to determine which God we are talking about here. Are you referring to the real God, the unconditionally loving God who we are all a part of? This is the one Jesus was talking about when he said the kingdom of God is within you. The one who is our dearest friend and closest companion.

Or are we talking about the angry little judgmental God that lives on some far off cloud called heaven. The one who seems to be more concerned with our errors than he is with our successes? You know the egocentric needy little God that always wants people to worship him. The one who is always unavailable because he is only a fantasy? You need to specify if you want a real answer

On the womens issues. Paul was gay and resented women. That where most of the anti-Fem stuff came from.

God loves all unconditionally. God gave us unfastened will understanding finished nicely that totally everyone human beings ought to apply that unfastened will to chop up ourselves from the endless. So why could God end loving us if we are basically workout the unfastened will that "he" gave to us interior the 1st place. God hopes all us will make a greater proper selection and seek for oneness with God extremely than separation even though it remains our unfastened will to no longer seek for this oneness. extremely we are all extensions of the endless, yet we ought to continually comprehend that interior of ourselves till now that's a show up certainty in our beings. additionally there is extremely little distinction between Christians and Atheists. the two deny God. Atheists deny God exists in any respect on a similar time as Christians deny God lives interior of themselves. They try this despite if Jesus mentioned that the dominion of God is interior of you.

No God doesn't love all, actually He hates very much evil doer, and He doesn't care for the numbers but for the quality so He may send to hell 90% of humans if they are bad and accept only 10% only who are good. Know who is your God before it is too late, yes He is merciful but He is not playing, do your home work, search, study, and do what is good and don't depend on the dreams of cheap believes and lazy salvation concepts.

Can you cite any specific verses that actually and explicity encourage hatred toward women?

Go ahead and find one. On second thought, don't bother -- because there aren't any.

Of course, you're completely forgetting (or deliberately ignoring?) all the verses that tell us to love everyone (including women), as well as the verses from St. Paul to tell husbands to love their wives.

Equality of the sexes is a Christian concept. It came from Christianity. Prior to Christianity, wives were very much treated like second-class citizens in their own families, let alone their own societies.

When St. Paul wrote "Husbands, love your wives," that was very radical stuff.

Today's oversexed, secular society is the one that mistreats women -- not Christianity. It is today's oversexed secular society that encourages men to see women as sex objects -- and encourages women to see themselves as that too.

The pushing of birth control, for instance, only encourages the sexual using and exploitation of women -- this isn't Christianity doing this!
