The apostle Paul said that Christians should let "the Mind of Christ be reflected in us" (you). So, when someone posts a question about evolution, or another religion, or homosexuality, why do christians tear those people apart. I read their posts, and the posts are full of RAGE and HATRED for anyone who doesn't believe exactly the same as they do. I call you people the "Ned Flanders uber-christians" because that's what you come off as. Now, I know not all christians do this, and I've seen some very good posts as evidence, so I don't want people to think I'm generalizing about Christians.

As Mahatma Ghandi said, "I like their Christ, but not their Christian."

FYI I'm not asking this as an outsider...I believed in Christ when I was 5, and I read the bible quite often. I'm confused as to how these certain people claim "I'm a christian" but do not act like Christ.

You'll also notice I quoted Paul. The Ghandi quote was to show what outsiders think of Christians (especially the Ned Flanders uber-Christians)

I agree with the quote, even though I am Christian.
Many people in the world just don't get it that not everyone sees things in the same light as them. Those that preach love yet practice hate are not doing anyone any good. Respect is needed, even when you don't agree on some subject. The whole world would be a better place if we all could have a little more respect for other people - whether it be in matters of religion, culture, language, skin tones or lifestyles.

Those that are filled with "rage and hatred" may have forgotten one of the basic tenets of Christianity; that Jesus LOVES the SINNER and HATES the SIN! It's a truly sad statement about our witness as Christians when we can't extend the hand of fellowship because we want to drive out the sin first! The Scripture teaches that we are to "go ye out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in." It means we're supposed to witness about the love of Christ and what changes he can bring about in their lives, not fling their sin back in their faces! God doesn't need any help ruling the world and ridding it of sin; He needs witnesses to the fact that everyone can be rid of their sins by accepting salvation, living the Christian life, and not forcing it on others. He already has a punishment for those who refuse to hear the Word; it's called "being turned over to a reprobate mind." How terrible it would be to have the blood of a reprobate on our hands at Judgment Day because we attempted to force change upon someone in a manner that was out of the will of God! That soul would be lost, and what would God do with the person who imparted the "inappropriate witness?"

I have posted numerous replies to evolutionary questions,, I have only state facts regarding some of tho improper science that has lead to the theory on evolution... Disagreement is not hatred.. it is simply a path to an open discussion of the facts.. Some questions are more so loaded with hatred than any hundred answers,, A legitimate question should lead to a legitimate answer.. But some on here shouldn't expect a loaded question to go without someone shooting back.
And remeber, even Jesus rose up and violently drove the thieves from the temple... Offer salvation to an enemy,, If he refuses, he is dead to you..

I kind of understand those Christians. One of the primal reactions to feeling threatened or fearful is anger, you can look it up. It's clear that there are trends in society that make Christians feel that way as evident from the fact that the level of wrath tends to be commensurate with the extent to which the particular Christan lacks in education and perspicacity. Given the very human nature of this reaction I tend to respond with sympathy. Damn! I should be the one preaching the Christan concepts of tolerance! Perhaps the day will come when Christians bother to develop an understanding of their own beliefs. Probably not though.

Let us be VERY clear about the concept of 'Christians'.

TRUE Christians practice the teachings of Christ, which included peace, humility, and tolerance, kindness, and charity towards other human beings.

Many so-called Christians are, in fact, NOT practicing Christianity at all, but merely use the name out of convenience, while they practice organized 'dogma', racism, use hateful rhetoric, and live a life of greed and self-righteousness.

I truly cannot answer for anyone but myself and I try to be respectful of all others. I do fall far short at times. Whenever I answer a question, I always pray first for the Holy Spirit to guide my thoughts and words. There have been times I have answered a question without the help of the Holy Spirit and I can see the difference...some of my human tendencies seep through and my answers are not always as loving and respectful as I know they could be. For anyone out here that has received any answer from me that was not kind and respectful, please accept my apologies and forgive me. God bless us all.

I realised that I should never critisize others, hurting them. Because they are like me. If I were in their situation, I would probably be doing the same "wrong". I don't know the exact text, but Jesus said to religious people: "Sinners, prostitutes and other people which you believe are impur will overtake you in God's Kingdom!" In the world, we have all sorts of devotion objects and action. (a cross, a church, our pastor, our bible, lifting up hands while praying, fasting ... ) all this are only object of devotion - this will not save any sinner! THE RIGTHEOUS WILL BE SAVE BY HIS FAITH - FAITH IN JESUS NAME. We do not fight with the flesh but against evil spirits! My sheep will hear my voice and will follow me. No need to shout at anyone, or humiliate a person! GOD IS DEMOCRATIC, HE GIVE YOU FREEDOM OF CHOICE! YOU ARE IN THE TIME OF GRACE.

I agree with you. I'm stunned and even angry at times at the number of people who call themselves Christians and come across with such arrogance, hatred and anger. The Jesus I know is so opposite of all of that. Jesus is somebody that the secular world would love if they knew Him for who He really is. The secular world has such a bad impression of Christians because, unfortunately, we've trained them to see us that way. So, somebody doesn't see life the way that we see it. That's their choice. And, the sooner we start showing respect and appreciation for those who disagree with us, and the fact that the secular world is FILLED with some great thinkers, the sooner we might find a reciprocal openness to what we're all about. Thanks for the quote as well.

okay first of all, no Christian is ever supposed to be rude or nasty. that's never endorsed by Christ and people on here should learn how to be a bit more polite.
that being said, the content of their answers is another part. as much as it pains nonChristians, we are taught that certain things are wrong and should be seen as wrong. having the Christ means knowing what Christ disapproved of. and if people come on here asking our opinion, we're going to tell them the Christian view.

Maybe you should read the bible more, don't just pick up a quote along the way. You like quoting Ghandi, I hope you do not end up where he will be if he didn't repent before dying.
