teething? Is he awake at night? is there anyting that help him, so he cries less and in not in distress. Maybe a problem with food or formula, does eating make it better or worse.

How many hours total a day does he sleep? Is he running a temp? is he devloping normally?

Observe him and then take this info to the doc.

Yes, he has the day and night mixed. You have to start a training to fix the day-night. He is cranky of course because he is out of the cycle.

Try to mainten him entretained during the day, however he should sleep 2 naps of up to 2 hours each.

Try to put him to nap in the morning around 9:30 until 11:30. and wake him up.
Then another nap around 2:00 up to 4:00 p.m. Do not allow him to sleep ppass 4 p.m.
Then put him in bed between 7 and 8 pm.
Do this for a week.

It bothers me that he's 9 months and not sitting up on his own fully. Is he getting ample tummy time? Floor time? Interaction with you while sitting with lots of colorful toys and interesting things to see?

It could be he's sleeping a lot because he's not stimulated enough.

This is one of the few times i would say check with a doctor. Or better yet, take him to an occupational therapist for infants, they will work on his motor skills.

All babies are different, and it could well be that this is just how he is. If it were me though i would have him checked out.

How does he sleep at night? Is he feeding well? Wet/dirty diapers the same?

Crany - he could be getting teeth. Try running your finger along his gums, you can often feel them.

Sleeping a lot during the day isn't really normal - you might want to call your pediatrician.

When babies at that age sleep for that long means that they are not getting the right amount of nutrition so they are week, and sleeping too much will make you cranky. I would take him to the doctor to make sure.
