She is constantly demanding my attention. I have two other cats; so she can't be lonely. She will call me from another part of the apartment. I hold her for a while; but she wants me to constantly be where she is. I have other things to do; like housework or making meals. I have given her toys to play with and have tried a squirt gun to quiet her down. I really don't want to have to give her up since she was born in my house.

Being very vocal sounds like she might have siamese in her...they are the talkers of the group.

My siamese lynx mix talks alot and demands alot of my attention compared to my other cat.

Cats normally expect 10 minutes of attention per day, most are content to get a few pats here and there. Others need the direct 10 minutes all together at once.

Mine is like this....I have to hold her, pet her and love on her for 10 minutes straight and do nothing else or she talks and talks and talks.

Yours might be doing other things besides calling you as well.

She might be telling you her food bowl is empty, the water is warm, the litter is dirty, hey dad!! I saw a bird!!, hey there is a stranger outside, etc etc.

Even had one cat when I was younger that would go off into a room alone and just meow....she wasn't calling anyone she just got a kick out of hearing her meow echo in the room. Was a game to her.

Like a baby.....if they are making alot of noise then something must be wrong or out of place.

Is you cat a siamese? They naturly has the urge to talk. Sounds like your cat is very insecure. How long have you had this one? Squirt guns will just make her wet and scared of you. DO you want that? Find her a home where someone will not mind a chatty loving needy cat. ( I have one and DO understand what you are going through. I do have to shut him up in a room with another cat, At first he was upset but now he accepts it because he can look out the window and play with the catnip toys and has company.. Just do not leave your cat in there all day. a coupple hours at best.)

A muzzle will not make her quiet... it may make her worse. She may also become resentful and aggressive.
Your cat is treating you like her mother. She is being a baby, constantly wanting your attention. How old is she? What breed? Some cats are more vocal and needy than others.
She has learned that if she calls for you, you will give her attention. Unless there is a good reason for you to pick her up, ignore her when she calls. Wear ear plugs if necessary.
If all else fails, find yourself an animal behaviourist.

muzzles only hold the mouth closed since many cat sounds come from their throat it will not stop her from making noise.
It is also not fair to her to muzzle her for making noise.
If it irrates you teach her not do be so demanding or find someone who wants a very loving busy cat.

no, because cats purr and growl from their throat so a muzzle would be of little use.
