I can't be exact, but at least a billion more years. That is, until the sun goes Red Giant. But the sun's gravity may be weak enough by then for the earth to slip just a bit further out, away from the sun so as to avoid vaporization. If so, then it will last indefinitely, as the sun shrinks into a white dwarf for a few more billion years. If you mean, how long will human life exist on earth then I would say as long as Al Gore allows it.

All you people are not understanding his question. He means to say how long will the EARTH last, not how long humans will survive on it. My answer is that the planet will last 5 billion years from now. Because thats around the time the sun will run out of fuel and expand into a red giant and swallow the earth. Something might happen before then though that could destroy the earth. Humans most likely won't be around to see it.

somewhere between 1 year and 5 billion years. The sun will burn out in about 5 billion years, and after that, life will surely not exist on our planet, even though the rock itself may remain.

However, there are many things that can erradicate life on earth at any time... Like meteor strikes, and nuclear war.

As you know, this is a very hard question to answer.

the earth will exist most likely until it is swallowed by a black hole, or until another large planet collides with it and destroys it. i think what you mean is how much longer do you think life will exist on earth. humans do not have the power to destroy something as massive as a planet.

I agree, that the real question is how much longer will humans exist on the planet...
at some point we will be extinct and the planet will continue without us.

Long enough that we don't need to worry about it. The Earth will eventually be consumed by the Sun when it becomes a red giant, but that will be a billion plus years from now.

In this situation, it depends. If we keep up this global warming, then we might last for another 30-40 years, no joke. but, if we take action, then Earth will last for another 2-4 billion yrs on the case that the sun will last for 2-4 billion yrs.

As you know about Easth, it is 5 billion years old. Quite assuredly, the wold will survive for another 5 billion years. Apollo will ensure that our planet makes way once he goes supernova. Untill then, maybe the humans will become extinct.

Earth will probably exist until the nova of our sun envelops it and it becomes a rather heavy gas in the suns corona.
