When the cord is cut there is a series of changes in the bidy where shunts are closed off thet use to bypass the lungs becuase the infant had no need to breat, othere chunts that are closed of include the one to the liver and the one coming back from the lungs

its already happened when the baby takes its first breath and the placenta has become detached from the mother,then the cord is finally cut not before
