This is all we know right now. We are in Vancouver Canada and she is a Swedish Citizen. We have contacted the Swedish Embasy but we don't even know what the charges and they have no knowledge of the incident. She contacted some of her friends in Chile that she had been staying with and they contacted us by phone. The friends from Chile only told us that she was arrested on Friday and she sounded nervous on the phone.

The arrest of a foreigner anywhere in the world requires that the arrestee's embassy be notified. So the Cuban police should contact the Swedish Embassy in Havana within a day or two of arresting her. You can call or email the Embassy:

Embajada de Suecia
Calle 34, No 510
e/ 5 y 7 ave. Miramar
Habana

Tel: +53 7 204 28 31
Fax: +53 7 204 11 94

E-mail: ambassaden.havanna@foreign.ministry.se

Get in touch with the Swedish Embassy in Havana or if they don't have an embassy in Havana, whichever embassy handles Swedish interests in Havana to file a missing persons complaint with the Havana Police. If they don't have her, they'll find her. That's all I can think of. Hope she's found safe soon. Best of luck.

That is so scary! Have you contacted the parents of your niece? Can you contact the police in Havana to find out whether this is true or not?

until they charge her the consulate cant do much.make sure the consulate sends her a letter letting her know that they know where she is at.they will give her a phone number that she can call to speak to them.they need to know what she has done even before they charge her if possible.if she is found guilty she will have to do her time and then they will prob deport her. you need to find out wtf is going on as fast as you can so you can let her know. they will not help her or tell her what is going on. get her a lawyer.
