Shooting slugs through a choke choke is always a bad choice. It can result in damage to the gun and danger to the shooter. AT best, it will mess up the choke.

You can shoot slugs, but without much accuracy past 30 yards or so(due to lack of proper sights and windage from relatively large choke). If you are hunting deer, beg borrow or steal a shotgun designed to and sighted to shoot slugs. Don't want a bunch of wounded deer running around in the woods after the hunt. Makes a HUGE difference in ability to cleanly kill.

a regular 12 slug can be shot thru all but extra full choke without any harm done to barrel.lead verses steel most it will do is leave a small amount of lead residue..cyl or mod chokes are best..mounting a scope will help.my ithaca deerslayer is accurate at 100 yds.

tinker is wrong. forster style slugs will shoot through and choke with no damage but will shoot better in some than others. even sabots will shoot through a choke but may not function properly.

the answer is yes it's okay. the only chokes it is a problem with is with full, extra full style chokes. then the opening is smaller that the diameter of the slug.

Don't shoot saboted slugs, they are designed for rifled barrels or chokes, and they will leave residue in your barrel.
