Before children, I was what you would call shapely. I had a nice sized boosom (38b) small waist and hips to die for. I was what some men in my culture call "thick". It's not fat but it is the thing to be in my culture. LOL How do I determine my body type, so that I can being to lose the excess weight for my body type.

If you mean are you an "apple" or a "pear"... then it's kinda based on where you tend to carry your weight. If your legs stay skinny, no matter what, you're most likely an apple (gaining most of your wait up top in your chest, arms and stomach). If you gain most of your weight in your legs, butt and belly, then you're most likely a pear.

Sounds like, however, that you're more like I am... you kind of gain and lose all over... and even if you gain ten pounds, it's not really obvious to anybody because you gain it all over, not in one place.

The belly fat issue is something that I'm dealing with as well, and I think it just has more to do with getting those belly muscles tone again.... something that's been brutal for me. I'd assume that doing abdominal excercises will be most beneficial.

A GREAT exercise program (that I used before I was pregnant and was just recently able to borrow from a friend) is the Mari Winsor Pilates set. That program really focuses on the whole body, but a lot of the exercises really focus on the abs. I highly recommend it.

Good luck.

your body type is based on your skeleton rather than how fat or thin you are theres straight-shoulders&hips line up, slightly curvy-70%of woman are this ,similar to staight but with more shapely hips&bottom then theres the curvy body shape like an hourglass figure if you just want to lose the tim do the usual healthy eating & excercise swimmings good for all the muscles or find something that will interest you good luck =)
