no no NO! ... With very few exception, a girl should NOT accept a 'last minute' or 'stand by' date. If a fellow can't call by Thursday, then you have "other plans" for Saturday. (Those plans could be washing your hair and watching a video by yourself, but you don't tell HIM that.)
And a fellow has a lot of nerve to ask a lady to commit to a date that he can't himself commit to! Don't do it! Tell him to give you a call when he has something definite in mind.
If you'd like to "do something", then go do something. Are you incapable of enjoying yourself without a "date" to entertain you? Are you so desperate for male companionship, that you are willing to be "on call" like a prostitute? If you allow yourself to be devalued this way, then you can't blame the fellows for taking you at your own evaluation.
Remember: Lauren Bacall ALWAYS had better things to do than sit by the phone waiting for Humphry Bogart to call.

Well if you think first meetings should be planned at least a day in advance, he needs to know that. And the best way to tell him that is by not waiting on standby. Go, live your life, have fun, don't sit around waiting for him. If it's important to him, he'll make the effort to schedule a time in advance.

Make plans and do whatever you want to do. I agree with you and hating for things to come into the works at the last minute. I feel if he knows the days that you are off he could schedule something but if he is waiting until the last minute he's probably a waste of your time.

No, you shouldn't have to give up a potentially good day to wait on someone that apparently doesn't have time for you. And, if you do meet this guy, make sure its in a very public place - restaurant, etc.

Call up some friends and go out or do sth better with your day. I think you should wait for him to contact you first, specially that its an online thing.

every relationship starts with a date. if the date starts badly... once is a coincidence, twice is a trend.... do not attempt to continue if its a trend. you will stuck your whole life spinning with that kind of attitude with your partner. find a date that is smooth.... no hanky panky, no excuses.
