Windows XP is the best available. But Mac OS X is better... if you have an Apple.
In actual fact the operating system that is the best is the one YOU most like to use. Some Uber-Geeks say Linux is the best since you can do anything with it but then again you have to write lines and lines of code just to play your CD!!
Windows offers good operating systems with very little complications and XP is currently leading the way because of its reliability (yes, it is reliable) and ease of use.... or at least until Vista comes along :))

Depends on your viewpoint. If you want major office funtunality and ease of usem Windows XP is the current leader. If looking for a mac OS X works great for multimedia work. If you're a programer and hate flaws and bugs in an operating system Unix/Linux will give you a solid programing base.

There is nothing as such Good or Bad OS. Every OS has it's pros and cons.
If u r a new user and r trying to learn, Win 98 is the best.
For office uses, Win XP is the best.
If u r looking for both the above purposes with greater security, Linux is the best.

Every OS has its goods and flaws.Hoping that Vista will be better than XP in terms of security but it sucks when it comes to basic PC requirements.

Currently it is Windows XP.
I have hope that Vista, when released next year, will be even better.
