This is the law in England.
It's illegal to impersonate an officer in the armed forces, including the Royal Navy and the Royal Navy reserve. Dressing up as one for a fancy dress party of stage play is not. Telling someone you are an officer only counts as impersonation if it earns you privileges only available to officers. (I don't know if impressing women counts!)
There's no law against impersonating a Merchant Navy officer provided you don't take command of a ship that requires a master's certificate. You can call yourself Commodore if you wish as long as it's not Commodore RN

It's against the law to pose in any Armed service uniform without the authority of the government, or to wear the insignia of a rank other than your own (last part applies to servicemen/women only)
If you mean to a fancy dress party then, it's ok, as long as you don't try to get on a military camp, or you'll end up staying in a cell and being interviewed by police.

I think technically there is no specific law against this. However if you were to do it in order to gain access to MOD property then you would certainly be prosecuted under the Official Secrets Act - all MOD sites are protected as a "Prohibited Site" under this law. The sentences can be high! If you are doing it for other immoral or illegal practices then you could be done for deception. If you are just doing it cos you like the uniform, then I think you'll be ok. After all you don't see many strippers getting arrested do you?

The nation, just as good as the people are in them, will hold to princibles they hold dear and hold high, whats right to these peoples. When as a nation, we hold up before God, and before other nations this, Our Choice!!! We make a statement! We send a message. We can only speak for ourselves, sometimes others agree, others Strongly oppose. So God watches this, interested. If we do what pleases the Creator, we get blessed. If we send out the wrong message and a bad influence? Are We the Top of the Food chain, to decide whats Best for all? Nope, it comes from a higher authority. To advance, we must choose correctly!!!! "Not my will, but they will be done, in heaven & the earth.

I actually heard somewhere that it's against the law to impersonate a police officer, but it is NOT against the law to impersonate a military member. Besides, you wouldn't get very far trying to impersonate someone in military... You wouldn't have the proper credentials unless you're someone on the inside and very knowledgeable of what you're doing and trying to accomplish...

it is against the law to pose as any officer position... dont even consider doing it... it is not only a risk with law enforcement... but i have heard of many people who impersonated officers only to have shot themselves in the face before they were arrested... dont consider it... it is very dishonorable and it will lead to no good
