definitely try a tea tree shampoo or massage a tea tree oil throughout her scalp before she goes to bed. Paul Mitchell makes a GREAT tea tree shampoo. Tea tree acts as a natural "antibiotic" and helps heal the skin.. from eczema to psoriasis.. I'd take her to the doctor if it doesn't clear up in a week or two.
Try not to "dry" it out with dandruff shampoos or shampoos for oily scalp because the dandruff will only get worse. If you do so, the oil glands will think there is a lack of oil being produced when you use these "drying" out shampoos, so they'll end up making extra oil for what they think is being lost.
Also, when she shampoos, make sure she's really scrubbing the scalp good. Use the "balls" of the fingertips to really get in there for about 3 minutes or so. This will help "break" up the dandruff to be washed down the drain.
Make sure she's drinking lots of water, too.

If you've tried dandruff shampoos with no luck she might have an allergy that looks like dandruff or a severe case of dry scalp. Try washing her hair every day (to cut the oil problem) in a moisturizing shampoo. If that doesn't work check with a dermatologist, I know that won't help in time for the wedding. But I thought I had dandruff and it was in fact an allergy.

My daughter is 10 yrs. old and also suffers from dandruff and oily hair. The only product that works for her is Head & Shoulders. I have tried many shampoos specifically designed for dandruff and/or seborrea and nothing works but Head & Shoulders. I even use it and I don't have dandruff! I especially like the Citrus Breeze scent. Good luck.

Seborrhoeic dermatitis is commonly known as Dandruff. On the scalp, it appears as patches of scales (which are actually an exfoliation of excessive amounts of dry scales). It was embarrassing to me when I was a teen, and it most probably is common in teens because of hormonal changes, but there are indicators it is fungal in nature. I tried every method/remedy there was (back in the Stone Age), and nothing worked. Time took care of the problem.
Today there are medicinal shampoos, such as Ketoconazole, and miconazole shampoos which contain an anti-fungal ingredient. I would ask my pharmacist about them. It is certainly worth the try. Tell your daughter that, unfortunately, she is a NORMAL teen, and teen years are sometimes yucky. Good Luck!

has she been shampooing it or have you?
the reason i ask is because i've only seen 2 or 3 girls this age who actually know HOW to shampoo their hair. it needs to be scrubbed; not just wet and wiped over with shampoo.
this is a strange age. they are learning how to become independant and want to do things on their own. sometimes help is needed. either you scrub her head or go to a salon and explain to a stylist that she needs lessons on how to shampoo and condition her own hair.
here's another tip:
add baking soda to the shampoo.
it will help exfoliate the chlorine and hairspray and will put the hair back into it's natural ph level.
on dark colored hair - mix katchup and baking soda (no metal bowl or spoon) and apply after the shampoo has been rinsed. the katchup will eat up the chlorine and hairspray and other goop (the acid in the katchup eats all the goop and the soda balances the ph) THIS IS NOT FOR BLOND HAIR

Try Head & Shoulders!
Also, you can find different shampoo brands at the store that are recommended for dandruff and a dry scalp. One for instance is Garnier Fructis specially formulated for dandruff!
I hope this helps!
