Song of Solomon 7

1 How beautiful your sandaled feet,
O prince's daughter!
Your graceful legs are like jewels,
the work of a craftsman's hands.

2 Your navel is a rounded goblet
that never lacks blended wine.
Your waist is a mound of wheat
encircled by lilies.

3 Your breasts are like two fawns,
twins of a gazelle.

4 Your neck is like an ivory tower.
Your eyes are the pools of Heshbon
by the gate of Bath Rabbim.
Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon
looking toward Damascus.

5 Your head crowns you like Mount Carmel.
Your hair is like royal tapestry;
the king is held captive by its tresses.

6 How beautiful you are and how pleasing,
O love, with your delights!

7 Your stature is like that of the palm,
and your breasts like clusters of fruit.

8 I said, "I will climb the palm tree;
I will take hold of its fruit."
May your breasts be like the clusters of the vine,
the fragrance of your breath like apples,

9 and your mouth like the best wine.

Beloved
May the wine go straight to my lover,
flowing gently over lips and teeth. [a]

10 I belong to my lover,
and his desire is for me.

11 Come, my lover, let us go to the countryside,
let us spend the night in the villages. [b]

12 Let us go early to the vineyards
to see if the vines have budded,
if their blossoms have opened,
and if the pomegranates are in bloom—
there I will give you my love.

13 The mandrakes send out their fragrance,
and at our door is every delicacy,
both new and old,
that I have stored up for you, my lover.

In my opinion, most of the old testament isn't appropriate for children. Teaching children that god chooses a certain group of people over another is wrong. Teaching children that god destroys all life is wrong. Teaching children that god allows the wreckage of human lives to prove a point to the devil is wrong. Teaching children that killing entire civilizations so that god's chosen people can have their land and recources is wrong. Teaching children that god expected genital mutilation at any point in history is wrong.

When you teach children that at ANY point these things were not only ok, but sanctioned by god, you teach them that at some point if could be ok again. Children should be taught the truth. That type of behavior has never been and never will be right. Humans haven't always been the way we are now. We should all know better than that.

Anybody who believes that a bunch of bronze age and early iron age people knew EVERYTHING there was to know about god... come on. They didn't even know what caused earthquakes, wildfires, flooding, famine, and disease... why would I think they understood something as complex as God? Teaching that those ancient people knew everything about god does God a great disservice. What a shameful, horrible belief.

The Song of Solomon is beautiful poetry. I would rate that specific passage as PG13. There are rated X portions of the good book. Violence alone makes most of the Old Testament rated R.

I agree with ty kinney.

I believe the Bible is a big instruction manual or even a how to guide. Since you an adult you can pick or choose which parts of the Bible you should allow your child to read. As they get older and it becomes easier to understand the atrocities of the world then let them read the rest.

Or just have faith that they will choose the right thing to do when reading the Bible. Perhaps they will ask you questions in which you can answer them from a different point of view.

Just have Faith. We are all God's children and he Loves us all.

You don't need to read the bible. If God wants to tell you something He is perfectly capable of telling you directly.

Maybe you should stop reading what other people say about God and ask him to tell you what he wants you to do directly. Stop reading; clear you mind and listen. When you pray get your babbling over as soon as possible and listen. He is trying to talk to you but your mind is full of nonsense from the bible.

In your bible study have you ever heard of the small still voice? You can't hear it if your mind is otherwise occupied with other people’s silly ideas about God. Just try it you will be surprised

No. The Song of Solomon is mild compared to some of the sociopathic rampage stories of OT. I find the killing of all the first born of Egypt to be much less appropriate for kids than a sensual poem.

That's the best part of the Bible (except maybe the Sermon on the Mount) because it's so beautifully _human_...

If all of the slaughter and destruction that God enacted on humans is fit for children to read, then why not a bit of sex?

First answer me whether the Webster English Dictionary is fit for children or not? In the dictionary I have found ugly words like ****************************.
In the bible you will find the words of God as well as what Satan spoke[ to Adam and Eve, to Jesus] In the Bible there is Life [ for those who seek it] and also death [for those who deny it]. So it is upon u what to choose. Be wise and choose the right thing instead of finding things which is meaningless to you.[though it has a great meaning when compared with Jesus and the Church].

there are particular memories i would not instruct to an exceedingly youthful baby via content. They in all threat would not know it nicely besides. however the Bible as an entire is a reliable e book for absolutely everyone to be sure. there are baby's Bibles to boot that provide the memories in a format young toddlers can understand greater easy and that cuts out a number of that style of stuff. Early Jews would not enable their sons examine music of Solomon till they reached adulthood via its sexual nature. i think of that could desire to let us know some issues won't be proper for youthful toddlers. as quickly as they're of their adolescents i think of they're waiting for all of it. they have in all threat seen lots worse on television via that factor besides.

NO! Are you nuts? I wouldn't let my kid read something that had explicit porn in it... having a God everyone else is claiming "loves everyone" telling Moses to go into a neighboring nation and kill everyone, including livestock, EXCEPT!!! hehe the virgins... we'll need them for later, I guess. I'm betting they skip right over the more gruesome parts while explaining to their children that everyone died, including babies, because they deserved it. A good way to keep your kid in line if you like that sort of emotional abuse.

That's nothing. Try reading the part about Lot's daughters getting their father drunk and having sex with him, then giving birth to his children.
