No they are not. Add blockers, when they are working properly prevent adds from popping up on your screen. AdAware checks your system for resident programs that send info back to the advertisers home server.

no, one blocks pop ups from appearing and adaware removes cookies dumped on your pc which will cause appropriate ads to pop up
