When dogs eat grass that is a sign that they are sick most of the time and the dog might need to see a vet

I tend to think they need some nutrient in the grass too. My dog occassionally eats grass and I've never seen him throw up from it. I've had others dogs that ate grass and did throw up though. I think it may be a dual prupose remedy for dogs. We still have no idea of all the medicinal purposes of the plants on our planet. But apparently dogs instinctively know when they need it.

Dogs eat grass to neutralize chemicals in their system. It usually causes them to throw up, clearing their throat from hair, and other foreign items. You should not stop your dog from eating grass unless there is a chemical present that could harm the dog.

Grass to dogs is like pepto bismal is to humans. It relieves their upset stomachs and sometimes this includes throwing up whatever it was that caused the upset to begin with. There are pet stores that sell certain types of grasses for dogs that will not cause them to throw up...you might ask your vet.

The eat grass to help soothe an upset stomache. If they throw up after words, it's only bc they already had an upset stomach, the grass has nothing to do with it.

Sometimes they are trying to make themselves throw up. Grass helps with that.
Sometimes they just eat it becasue it is available. Mine graze some and do not throw up. Must be they like the taste or need one of the nutrients in it.
One of mine goes into the neighbors corn field and picks corn and eats that.

Dogs eat grass when they are having stomach problems and need to throw up. It's like sticking your finger down your throat. Normally they do it when they haven't eaten in a while and will vomit up bile. When this happens you know to watch for other signs to see if you need to seek medical attention for your dog.
