Yes. In Islam, Muslim men and woman can date. It is a concept called the Muta. It was practiced during Prophet Muhammad's (SAW) time and is now also mostly among the Shia. A companion of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) named Umar ibn Khattab who is also the 2nd caliph for the Sunnis banned it as it eventually became a man dominated religion oppressing women. It is worthy to note that it was also practiced during the Sunni's 1st caliph Abu Bakr's time who also practiced it. In Islam we claim to follow the Holy Qur'an and Hadith (the Prophet's (SAW) actions and sayings) but some decide to follow their caliph's words above the Prophet's (SAW) even though it is also in the Holy Qur'an. The Holy Qur'an also says that no one can change God's law, not even Prophet Muhammad (SAW) so who is a caliph? The reason they give is that it is not needed any more, as in those days there were a lot of battles and Muslim's needed to procreate. In Islam this new rule is called a Bida, or addition to the religion. The rules are that the man must be a Muslim and the woman can be a Jew, Christian, or Muslim. If she is a Muslim, she can not be a virgin, if she is, then the consent of her guardian must be given. A Muslim man must give a dowry or gift and state a term for the Muta (temporary marraige) for example 3 months. They will be husband and wife for those 3 months but no other rules of inheritance or such applies. There are a lot of arguments against it that are ungrounded. For example some Sunni brothers claim that this is similar to prostitution. If it was, would the Prophet (SAW) ever practice it or your 1st caliph? Can you not have a regular marraige and divorce within 3 months? Which is itself horrible b/c the woman has hopes of a long life of marraige but with mutah, both parties are aware of the eventual outcome which is separation although in most cases, it leads to permanent marraige. Yes of course. Muslims are also normal human beings and they too date before getting married. In Singapore, our muslims community have the freedom to date anyone of their own religion.

i only now about muslim guys in the uk and yes they date. they date muslim and non-muslim girls. it is a lot more common than you would think - it happens too to a lesser degree in muslim countries. i also know that some muslims of both sexes sleep around.

some muslim girls don't date and won't they wait for marriage and it is not always an arranged marriage.

In Islam, intimate relation between male and female is Haram,SIN, before marriage. So no date system in Islam.
It is one of the reasons that all Muslims are sure about who is their father and grandfather...etc.

Islam gives permission to men and women to choose their fellow. It is permitted to meet them. Concept of marrying a person whom one have never met is not Islamic. Islam gives permission to meet people and get to know them before getting married, but it does not allow them to sleep or live with the person before marriage. I think sleeping with every other person on the road and changing your mates every other month is pathetic.

Some probably do. It's a broad question.

It's like asking if catholic preachers have sex.
