For the last several years I have had problems with my back really more like my sciatic nerve. But, here lately, over the last couple of month, I have constant pressure on what feels to be a disc or vertebra. Also I have on and off again sciatic nerve pain that radiats down my leg. Something new is the tingling or like sections or part of my leg (more like the surface area) is going or trying to go to sleep. I take anti flammatory meds, hot showers, as well as stretch and some lower back excercises. Am I over reacting in think that this is something more? There are times that walking, sitting, standing, laying, or even crawling is exuciating to the point of screaming. Please help!

too may things going on here....of course what you sound like is sciatica, where one or more of the 5 lumbar nerve roots may be trapped and causing your discomfort...can be trapped by herniated/bulging discs, fractured discs, neural foramina problems....you could even have unilateral nerve root/spinal cord compression....
heat, ice, NSAIDS, physical therapy are all well n good, but you need an MRI to "SEE" what is going on and that it is not serious...
when you start losing bowel and bladder control + paralyzed-like legs...this is VERY SERIOUS

I have back problems too. Have you had your spine x-rayed? I did finally. I have something called spondilosis.
It helps to know what is wrong, for me. I do weights now for my lower back. But I find the best thing overall is to de-stress! Relax as much as you can. Take yoga, get therapy for the emotional baggage, sleep more!!!! ( yeah , sleep more) Other approaches that helped were : osteopathy!!!!! Find a DO who does strain- counterstrain. It is wonderful, very gentle, and effective. Electrical stimulation really helps too - I have mine done by a chiropractor- who also was very helpful.
But in the end, I am more relaxed emotionally now, and that makes all the difference. If you're emotionally tense, you'll hold those muscles tightly all over the body, and since they are taught, they're bound to snap when you're overloaded physically or emotionally.
The reason why so many ppl have so many solutions physically is that we who have the pain don't get rid of the underlying stress. So there are 5,000 approaches and ideas. The solution is in learning to relax.

Anytime you have a loss of sensation in your body it is serious. And the fact that it continues is even more. Sounds like you have injured a disc and there is swelling. It needs to be looked at by a physician to determine what course of treatment should be appropriate. You'll have to get some radiology work done to assess the problem. The longer you delay a examination the more damage you could Be doing to your back. Even though you are exercising and taking anti-inflamatories it could Be having the opposite effect. Good luck.

>but I get punished if I don't go... What kind of punishment are we talking about here? You need to be a bit more detailed if you expect help, particularly from the non-experts who post here on Yahoo Answers. >They don't know that I am an atheist now Do YOU know that you're an atheist? Judging by your math you're currently around the age of 16. Many adolescents around that age feel rebellious and choose to reject worshipping or recognizing God as an authority as they've been taught to do during their early years, without actually getting to the point of positively asserting his complete nonexistence. These people often describes themselves as atheists because they think it sounds cool, different, goth, or whatever, without really fitting the necessary criteria to be an atheist. Are you sure that's not you? I don't mean to be overly skeptical, but I want you to make sure you're being entirely honest with yourself here before you make any big decisions. >but if I tell 'em, I'm scared that they will go on some kind of rampage that they make me go to every christian event there is to try to get me regain my faith Maybe they will. It's up to you whether or not you want to tell them now or later, but you have to do it eventually. You just want to be as ready as you possibly can be before you drop the bomb. And by 'ready', I mean you should have a thorough understanding of the points and counterpoints you may need to bring up in order to make your case as effectively as possible. In particular, try to let them understand that being all controlling about it and trying to forcefully change your mind will actually have the opposite effect, and alienate you from them more than anything else. If possible, make comparisons between you and them, for example 'How would you like it if your parents had forced you to go to a mosque?' or 'How do you think YOU would have turned out if Grandpa and Grandma had tried to control YOUR thoughts?' or something along those lines, whatever is most appropriate (remember, you know your parents a lot better than we do).
