it's the cycle of parenthood. Their great grandparents didn't like their parents music. Their parents didn't like their music and now they can bad mouth and not like your music. It's the cycle and when your a parent then it's yo turn.

They do not hate everything YOU listen, they do not have a problem with what YOU LISTEN. It is just something different for them, they are other generation, they have/had other tastes. It is normal to be like this. I do not think I will like what my kid will listen, but because I am an open person, I will try to let him in peace ;))

You can ask them what your THEIR parents thought of their music. Chances are your grandparents hated your folks music too. I guess it has to do with being fond of what you grew up with and maybe feeling alienated by the direction popular music has taken.
